On March 27, 1964, Alaska was hit by a magnitude 9.2 earthquake （the strongest on record in North America） and tsunamis that together claimed about 130 lives.
Film shows Anchorage, the largest town in Alaska, and the scene of some of the worst devastation. After being torn by one of the most serious earthquakes in history, Alaska then had to suffer the additional ordeal of over 40 earth tremors. Property damage alone may approach two hundred million pounds throughout the State.

アラスカ地震（Great Alaskan Earthquake、アラスカ大地震）は、１９６４年３月２８日にアラスカ州で発生した地震。聖金曜日に発生したことから、聖金曜日地震（The Good Friday Earthquake）とも呼ばれている。
震源はアラスカ州南西部のプリンス・ウィリアム湾。太平洋プレートと北アメリカプレートの境（アリューシャン海溝付近）における海溝型地震である。観測された表面波マグニチュードはMs８・４～８・６とされていたが、その後、金森博雄の推定によりモーメントマグニチュード（Mw）で９・２であることが判明し、アメリカ合衆国地震観測史上最大規模となった。この地震で１３１人が亡くなった。同年、日本で発生した新潟地震と並び、液状化現象による被害が大きく、これ以降、土質力学の分野で液状化現象が活発に研究されるようになった。　
この地震から１年近く経過した１９６５年２月４日に、同じ海溝付近にあるアリューシャン諸島でMw ８・７の地震が発生している。

Don Grady – One Good Turn Deserves Another（1965/01）
タイトルは諺で「一つの善行はもう一つの善行に値する」「親切を施せば親切を返してもらう資格ができる」すなわち「情けは人の為ならず」「人は情け」の意。

Out of Los Angeles, the second of two singles that the teen star would issue on the Capitol label and really one of his best. Recorded in December 1964 at the Capitol Tower in Hollywood, the David Axelrod production showcases a slick arrangement by H.B Barnum played to perfection by an ensemble of L.A.’s’Wrecking Crew’.
Most known for his television work as Robbie Douglas on’My Three Sons’ which ran from 1960 -1972, Don Grady was not only an actor but an accomplished musician, vocalist and composer. Other teen TV stars such as Ricky Nelson and Paul Peterson mmay have had bigger success on the record charts but Grady’s lack of hit status certainly wasn’t due to a lack in quality material as evident in this Capitol release. Grady would also issue a single as Don Grady and The Place Guard in 1965 and also was the drummer in the group, Yellow Balloon in 1967 which did have a top #25 hit entitled,’Yellow Balloon’. By the time’My Three Sons’ had ended it’s run, Grady issued a couple of singles on the Electra label in 1973 under his birth name, Don Agrati. He continued on with his music as well as work as a stage performer. Don Grady passed away at the age of 68 after losing his battle with bone cancer.

三重県桑名市は３０日から４月２日までの期間、「灯街道（とうかいどう）・桑名宿」を初開催する。
　同市が取り組む地方創生事業「国際観光まちづくりＫＵＷＡＮＡ」の一環で、県下有数の桜の名所「九華公園」を中心に、旧東海道周辺の「花街界隈」「六華苑」や桑名駅前の「八間通」などに、２０００灯を超える提灯と灯籠を設置。ほのかな灯りに照らされた夜桜と街並みを堪能できる。

旅行会社のてるみくらぶは、旅行申込者に対し、「発券システムが利用できない」という理由から、混乱防止のため、キャンセルを通告していることがわかった。各方面への取材を進めたところ、事業を停止する方針とみられる。
すでに発券済みの航空券やホテルについても、利用できるかどうかはわからないため、了承のうえ出発するよう呼びかけている。また、返金は「日本旅行業協会（JATA）と等関係先と協議の上、ご連絡させていただきます」とのメールを申込者に送付しており、JATAの弁済業務保証金制度を活用する可能性がある。JATA広報室は「現時点でお話できる情報はない。」と話している。
てるみくらぶは1998年に設立。本社は東京・渋谷で、大阪、名古屋、福岡、札幌に支店を置いているほか、ハワイ、グアム、台湾、韓国には現地法人を置いている。JATAに加盟しており、資本金は6,000万円。観光庁長官登録旅行業第1726号。弁済保証金の最低額は7,000万円。

　旅行会社の「てるみくらぶ」（東京）が主催するツアーで、顧客から「航空券が発券できない」などとする苦情が相次いでいることが分かった。観光庁にも顧客から日本旅行業協会を通じて２４日に連絡があった。観光庁は影響人数や損害の規模、旅行中の利用者が無事に帰国できるかなどの調査を始めた。
　同社はホームページで「誠に勝手ながら、３／２５（土）は臨時休業とさせていただきます」としている。
　てるみくらぶは「格安」をうたって海外ツアーのオンライン販売を展開。ホームページによると、札幌、名古屋、大阪、福岡に支店がある。東京商工リサーチによると、１９９８年に設立。２０１６年９月期の売上高は約１９５億円だった。
　「旅行の計画が実行されるのか」「代金が返金されるのか」－。旅行会社の「てるみくらぶ」を巡っては、ツイッター上で、利用者を名乗る人々から不安の声などが書き込まれる騒ぎになっている。卒業旅行や春休みの旅行シーズンとトラブルが重なり、影響は広がりそうだ。
　「韓国到着したけど、なんかホテルがキャンセルされてた。（中略）とまるところなかったんだからな！」
　てるみくらぶのツアーで韓国に行ったとみられる人の書き込みでは、予約したはずのホテルに泊まれない異常事態が起き、怒りをにじませている。
　他には「てるみくらぶで来週から韓国なのに。お金も払ったのに。返して」「行けないなら早くおしえて」と困惑気味のつぶやきが並ぶ。
　このような書き込みに対し「クレジットカード払いの方は、まずはカード会社へなるべく早く連絡してみて」といったアドバイスもあった。「発券済みの航空券が利用できるか確認できていない」と伝える同社からのメールという文書の写真を上げる人もいた。
　てるみくらぶのホームページでは、今回のトラブルの説明は全くされていない。

　東京地裁は２７日、旅行会社てるみくらぶ（東京）の破産手続きの開始を決定した。代理人弁護士らによると、破産の影響は顧客３万６千人、計９９億円に上り、旅行が中止に追い込まれる恐れがある。負債額は計１５０億円だという。
　人件費や広告費が増加する中、ハワイやグアムなどへの格安パッケージツアーを想定通りに販売できず、資金繰りが悪化した。円安で海外への外貨建て支払いが膨らみ、収支が悪化したことが追い打ちとなった。世界の航空会社で構成される国際航空運送協会への航空券購入代金の支払いが期日の３月２３日にできなかったという。

Composed by Frank Wilson and Marc Gordon, the track was put to recording tape with an ensemble of L.A.’s’Wrecking Crew’ and would eventually have the voices of the vocal group, the Vows added and issued as the B-side to’Buttered Popcorn’ on V.I.P. 25016 in May 1965. At some point in early 1965, horns and the background vocals of sisters Brenda and Patrice Holloway were added to the original backing track with Frank Wilson adding his lead vocal, which is what is presented here. As with hundreds of Motown recordings, this wonderful production was shelved but would surface decades later on an unofficial single pressing. Most recently in 2015, it was pressed with another unissued Frank Wilson recording from November 1965 entitled,’Ill Be Satisfied （Sweet Darling）’. The disc features the Soul Records graphics and was given the catalog number 35010 which was originally assigned to an official Soul Records release by the Hit Pack in March 1965.

McLemore went to Detroit and met with Berry Gordy who after hearing the demo tape, had a tepid response by stating that they sounded great but should go back to California and record something else. Marc Davis was preparing to leave the west coast Motown operation to start his own production company and offered to act as the groups manager. After a one-disc deal with Bob Keane’s Del-Fi Records subsidiary label, Bronco Records in April 1966, he brought them to Johnny Rivers who had just started his own record label, Soul City. The group was signed to the label and as they say, the rest was history. Hits galore were to follow.
As with hundreds of Motown recordings, this wonderful production was shelved but would surface decades later to be pressed on a couple of unofficial single discs; most recently in 2015. The Versatiles 1965 recording of’Tell Me’ was coupled with an unreleased 1965 recording of’（I’ll Be Satisfied） Sweet Darling’ by Frank Wilson. Whether intentionally or in error, both unofficial pressings incorrectly gave vocal credit to Frank Wilson on both sides of the record.
The 2015 pressing shown here, features the Soul Records graphics and was given the catalog number 35010 which was originally assigned to an official Soul Records release by the Hit Pack in March 1965.

Recorded in October 1963 at Nashville’s RCA Victor -‘Studio B’, this is the first known solo release out of a mere handful by then 36 year old, Alex Zanetis （who also recorded two singles with Kapp Records in 1968 credited as Larry London）. Zanetis would for the most part, occupy his time primarily with composing and producing for other artists in Nashville. ‘Speak To Me’, which was issued nationally as well as in Australia on Frank Sinatra’s Reprise Records, was incidentally in competition with another Nashville version of the tune on RCA Victor by Carl Belew as the flip side to’Big City Girls’. The Alex Zanetis version is a fine example of the the burgeoning metropolitan – pop’Nashville Sound’, complete with strings, background vocals by the Anita Kerr Singers and a tight rhythm section now known as the’A-Team’ that featured a set of rumbling and dramatic kettle drums.

「旅行業法では旅行代金の弁済を請け負う弁済業務保証金制度が定められています。しかし、この制度を活用したとしても、旅行代金の９９％が返還されない見通しです。詐欺として扱われるかは警察の判断となります」（観光庁観光産業課）
　２４日にツアーの航空券が一部発券できなくなる事態が発生し、予約客から観光庁に苦情が殺到した。もっとも、それまでに“怪しい業者”として目をつけられた形跡はない。

経営破綻した旅行会社「てるみくらぶ」が少なくとも３年前から粉飾決算を繰り返していたことが分かりました。決算書は目的別に複数、作成されていたということです。
　破産手続開始申立書によりますと、てるみくらぶは２０１４年９月期にはすでに大幅な赤字だったとみられますが、航空券の仕入れや営業にかかった費用を少なく計上することで、決算書では黒字を装っていたということです。また、最後の決算となった２０１６年９月期には、決算書のうえでは１億１０００万円の営業黒字となっていますが、実際には１５億円以上の赤字に陥っていたとみられます。さらに、関係者によりますと、融資を受ける銀行や旅行業の更新登録をする観光庁など、提出先によって内容の異なる複数の決算書を作成していたということです。

　三井住友銀行に虚偽の書類を提出して融資金約２億円をだまし取ったとして、警視庁捜査２課は８日、今年３月に経営破綻した格安旅行会社「てるみくらぶ」（東京・渋谷、破産手続き中）社長、山田千賀子容疑者（６７）＝東京都町田市南成瀬１＝ら２人を詐欺などの疑いで逮捕した。

　旅行会社「てるみくらぶ」（東京都渋谷区、破産手続き中）の融資金詐欺事件で、詐欺罪などに問われた同社元社長・山田千賀子被告（６８）に対し、東京地裁は２０日、懲役６年（求刑・懲役８年）を言い渡した。河本雅也裁判長は「会社が債務超過に陥っていたのに、経営継続のために犯行を企てており、被告の責任は重大だ」と述べた。
　判決によると、山田被告は同社の元経理担当責任者・笹井利幸被告（３７）（詐欺罪などで公判中）と共謀し、同社の経営状況を良好に見せかけた虚偽の決算書類を都内の二つの銀行に提出。２０１６年６月～１７年２月、ツアー代金支払いなどとした架空の名目で、計約５億４０００万円の融資金を両行からだまし取った。被害額の大半は返済されていない。
　判決は、同社が１４年頃から債務超過に陥り、経営状況が好転する見込みもなかったにもかかわらず、山田被告が当座の運転資金を得る目的で融資金の詐取を繰り返したと指摘。「犯行の計画性、常習性は明白で、手口も巧妙だ」とした。
