Bernie Lowe “If The Big Bands Were Here Today” 1962 STEREO FULL ALBUM

Here’s one that was sunk by the well-meaning “Remember When”-style title, as by 1962 the term “big band” had potential listeners tiptoeing out of the room so as not to awaken the old-timer. However, this collection is a lot more modern-sounding than big band ever did. See if you agree. Anyway, it’s from the original stereo vinyl pressing and may have a few audible defects. Please keep in mind my videos are never meant to take the place of higher quality sources, and I urge everyone interested in owning this album to seek out their own legitimate issue.

Fletcher’s Dance Orchestra – Shake Your Feet(1923)

Danny Kaye – Ballin’ the Jack

This song & dance number is a great period piece from the golden age of Vaudeville just before World War I. The footage comes from “For Me and My Gal” (MGM, 1942), the first film Judy and Gene made together. The song was originally written in 1913 by Jim Burris (words) and Chris Smith (music).

Complete with an assortment of sound effects created by the band members, this recording of the ragtime-jazz-pop tune by the Columbia Records house orchestra helped popularize the dance of the same name.
