讃岐うどん専門店の丸亀製麺は１２月２４～２６日の午後６時以降、全店舗のクリスマス企画として「釜揚げうどん」の全サイズを半額（並１４０円、大１９０円、特２４０円）で販売する。企画を告知した公式YouTubeチャンネルでは「ひとりの聖夜は冷えますから」と、釜揚げうどんのような温かいメッセージを伝えている。
なぜクリスマス期間に釜揚げうどんを半額にするのか。丸亀製麺を運営するトリドールホールディングスの広報担当者は「きっかけはインターネットの書き込みでした」とハフィントンポスト編集部の取材に語る。
