もうすぐクリスマス。
街中いたるところで、クリスマス気分を盛り上げるイベントや催しが行われています。
そこで目に飛び込んでくる色、クリスマスカラーと言えば、「赤」そして「緑」ですよね。
今回はこれらの色についてお話ししたいと思います。
「赤」はキリストの流した血の色とされていますが、他にもキリストが生まれたときに次々と身を結んだリンゴやひいらぎの色の意味もあるようです。
「緑」はモミの木の色、モミの木は常緑樹であることから永遠の命を表します。
この赤と緑の組み合わせを見るだけで、私たちはクリスマス気分になることができますが、実はこの赤と緑という色、「色相環」という色の輪の中では、「補色」の関係になるのです。

日本でも行事と色彩は密接な関係にありますね。
一番分りやすいのは慶事に用いられる紅白幕や弔事の鯨幕。
昔はデパートのバーゲンセールでも紅白幕とか張ってたけど、さすがに近ごろは見ないなー。

After cutting a handful of unsuccessful 1946 sides for Musicraft as the Fontaine [sic] Sisters, Bea, Geri, and Marge were eventually signed by RCA Victor, where (despite several popular second-billed collaborations with Perry Como) they were never able to gain much traction with their own releases. Moving over to Dot Records in 1954, they would quickly achieve record stardom with their million-selling “Hearts Of Stone.”
