On June 25, 1950, war broke out in Korea as forces from the communist North invaded the South.
Following the attack on Southern Korea by the Russian dominated North Koreans, Mr Tehi Chang Yun, the South Korean Minister in London, made an early comment on the situation. In a swift, bold decision, the United States sea and air forces have gone into action.

韓国の李洛淵（イ・ナギョン）首相は２５日、朝鮮戦争開戦から６７年となったことを記念した式典で演説し、北朝鮮に拘束された米国人大学生、オットー・ワームビア氏が昏睡（こんすい）状態で帰国後に死亡した問題で、「国際社会が激憤している」と述べ、北朝鮮の人権状況を批判した。いまだ拘束されている韓国人や米国人の即時解放も要求した。

On this day in 1950, President Harry S. Truman ordered U.S. armed forces to assist in defending South Korea. Here is a British Movietone report showing reinforcements leaving for Korea.
As reinforcements leave for Korea, President Truman promises victory, however long the job may take. The aircraft carrier “Bataan” is leaving Norfolk, Virginia. In Korea, the southern native, under the direction of American troops, build and repair the all-too-few airfields. First the wounded GIs are brought back from the front. Refugees present a problem, following the pattern of all sudden aggressions. Meanwhile, against heavy odds, the Americans fight a vital delaying action. Undoubtedly, their presence has stiffened South Korean defence.

肉を常食してきた西欧人と対した時、その肉体的劣位（この場合は声）は隠しようもない気がする。
韓国人は日本人と違って狩猟民族系・大陸人気質に近いと思われるので、実力本位の競争社会に馴染みやすいだろうが、それでもなかなか苦労したのではないか。とりわけ人種差別があからさまだったこの時代は。
