Okay, so I have a soft spot for easy listening music. If you enjoy Martin Denny and Les Baxter tropical exotica, you’ll want to pull up a chair with your favorite libation and drift away to your favorite island while listening to this one. It’s an old Hawaiian song with many cover versions.
Tommy “Snuff” Garrett is probably best known as A&R director for Liberty Records from 1958-1966 producing early 60’s hits for artists like Bobby Vee, Johnny Burnette, and Gary Lewis. He also produced a series of LP’s for Liberty under the guise of “The 50 Guitars of Tommy Garrett” with Tommy Tedesco as lead guitar. “Song of the Islands （Na Lei O Hawaii）” is from one of those albums, 1962’s’50 Guitars Visit Hawaii’.

英大衆紙デーリー・メール（Daily Mail）に対し、フランス・パリ（Paris）の同時テロ事件での銃撃の瞬間を撮影した映像を5万ユーロ（約650万円）で購入し、警察が暗号化した動画を解読するためにハッカーを使ったとの批判が出ていることを受け、同紙は24日、こうした批判に反論する声明を発表した。
　同紙が入手した映像は、銃撃を受けた現場の一つであるピザ店「カーサ・ノストラ（Casa Nostra）」に設置された防犯カメラが撮影したもの。外のテラス席が銃撃を受けた際に、客たちがとっさに身を隠そうとする様子が写っている。銃撃犯が目の前に迫りつつも、銃の故障によって幸運にも難を逃れた女性の姿もあった。

日本の島の数は、これまでは１９８７年に海上保安庁が公表した６８５２島という数字が広く使われてきました。
この数について、国土地理院が最新の地図のデータを使って３６年ぶりに数え直した結果、これまでの２倍以上の１万４１２５島に上ったと発表しました。
都道府県ごとの島の数は多い順に
▽長崎県で１４７９
▽北海道で１４７３
▽鹿児島県で１２５６
▽岩手県で８６１
▽沖縄県で６９１などとなっています。
今回、島の数は、人工の島を除く自然の島で、外周が１００メートル以上となることなどを条件に数えられたということで、島の数が倍増した要因について国土地理院は、近年は写真の画質が高まるなど測量技術が進歩したことで、地図の海岸線などを詳細に表現できるようになったためだとしています。
例えば、神奈川県藤沢市の江の島は、当時の技術だと大きな島と小さな島の２島となりますが、今回の数え直しだと、新たに５の小さな島が加わり合わせて７島になります。
一方、今回の数え直しによって、日本の面積や領海の広さに影響はなく、国境にある離島の数も変わらないとしています。
