２４日午後０時２０分ごろ、静岡市葵区の大井川鉄道井川駅で、千頭発井川行き普通列車（７両編成）の先頭車両が脱線した。乗客乗員約１３０人にけがはなかった。
大井川鉄道によると、井川駅に停車するため時速５キロ未満で構内に進入中、運転士が異常音に気づいた。停車後に調べた結果、先頭車両の車輪八つのうち前側の四つが脱線、車両が進行方向の左側に約１メートルずれていた。現場は緩やかな左カーブ。

けが人がいなくて何よりですが、客が乗ってる状態での脱線は由々しき事態。
とはいえ、軌道上を走る鉄道って、よくよく観ればかなり不安定な構造ですよね。
話変わって、
かつてアメリカでは鉄道が交通の王者だった時代がありました。開拓時代の終わりから１９４０年代のころのことですが、その間 鉄道網がどんどん伸びていきました。
その工事現場にいたのが日雇いの線路工夫で、多くは現場から現場へ渡り歩く住所不定の労働者でした。
ある時期から線路工夫に中国人が多くなり、彼らがアメリカ人より熱心に働くので、やっかみの対象となり黄禍論というのも席巻したことがありました。
W.C.ハンディーの作に わりと知られた『Yellow Dog Blues』（1919）というのがありまして、その Yellow Dog は黄色い犬ではありません。
ホーボー（無賃乗車をする渡りの労働者）のスラングで、南部の鉄道 Yazoo Delta Railroad のことを指すのだそうです。元は『Yellow Dog Rag』といい、Shelton Brooks が1913年に歌った『I Wonder Where My Easy Rider’s Gone』のアンサーソングとして1915年に作られた楽曲だとか。
その２曲が元になってR&B曲『C.C.ライダー』が出来たといいますが、聴いてもそのつながりが私にはよく分からないんですよ。『C.C.ライダー』自体、出来てからずいぶんと整形が為されてるような気がします。

毎度２回ずつ出てくる笑い声の最初のほうがどうも人間の声のように聞こえるが、どうだろう。

ホーボーが描かれている映画で印象深いのはこの２本。
１９３３年の世界恐慌の嵐が吹き荒れる大不況下のアメリカ。職の見つからない求職者たちは当所もなく各地を放浪するしかなかった。ホーボーと呼ばれるそんな彼らの移動手段は、貨物列車にこっそり忍び込んでしまうことであった。そんな彼らの中では決して乗ってはいけないと恐れられているオレゴン州に拠点を置く１９号列車があった。その列車は、シャックという腕利きの鬼車掌が指揮をとり、ホーボーは見つけられたら容赦なく惨殺（表向きは転落事故として処理される）されて行った。ホーボー達はシャックの犠牲になる仲間たちに嘆く中で、唯一１９号車に敢えて挑戦する伝説の男に希望を託していた、北国の帝王と呼ばれる伝説のホーボー、Ａ・ナンバーワンである。

１９３４年６月、キット・キトリッジは、新聞記者を夢見て、屋根裏部屋でタイプライターを使って周囲で起きる出来事を記事にしていた。キットの父ジャックは自動車販売の仕事を失い、支払いができなくなったため、自宅の差し押さえが迫る。ジャックは仕事を探してイリノイ州シカゴへ行き、母マーガレットは、少しでも収入を得るため、下宿を始め、奇術師のバーク、踊りの先生のドゥーリー、移動図書館の運転手のボンドといった一風変わった人達が同居する。

作家・横溝正史（１９０２～８１年）のファンらが、小説中の人物にふんして散策を楽しむイベント「１０００人の金田一耕助」（実行委員会主催）が２３日、倉敷市真備町周辺であった。各地から集まった過去最多の８１人が思い思いの衣装をまとい、横溝が戦時中に疎開したゆかりの地を巡った。
イベントでは、帽子にはかま姿の“名探偵”や、「犬神家の一族」に登場する白いマスクの「佐清（すけきよ）」になりきったファンが、「本陣殺人事件」で金田一が降り立ったとされる総社市のＪＲ清音駅前を出発した。
真備ふるさと歴史館までの約３時間の道中（約６キロ）で、一行は小説の場面を描いた寸劇を鑑賞したり、横溝が疎開中に執筆した邸宅に立ち寄ったりし、作家が過ごした時間を追体験していた。

乱歩より横溝正史のほうが推理作家という感じがします。乱歩の場合、異常心理の男が繰り広げるグロテスクな犯罪ストーリーの側面が強いように思われますが、どうでしょう。
片岡千恵蔵の金田一シリーズは、原作の良さを台無しにしたものばかりでしたね。千恵蔵はやっぱり多羅尾伴内でしょう。

二村定一の「浮浪者行進曲」聴いてる。内山惣十郎作詞、井田一郎作曲で、２分ちょいしかない短いナンセンスソングでした。陰旋法のスローマーチで書かれており、歌詞では“ルンペン”と呼んでますが、個人的には日本語の浮浪者と呼んだ方が違う生々しさを感じます。レコードは昭和６年春の発売でした😀。
