有名曲や競作の曲で誰のテイクを使うか熟考したフシが窺える。
そしてまた、たとえば “Drop Me Off In Harlem” の次に “Let Me Off Uptown” を持ってくるなど、構成も工夫されている。

B. J. Thomas – The Eyes Of A New York Woman(1968/05 mono 45)
3度目の引用。

This single immediately preceded release of his hit “Hooked On A Feeling.” Both were composed by producer Chips Moman’s staff songwriter Mark James (Francis Zambon), who also gave us “Suspicious Minds,” “Always On My Mind,” “Moody Blue” and other hits.

The Mincy Twins – Once Upon A New York Sunday(1964/11)
Wayne and Dwain
シングル “School Girl” のB面。
2度目の引用。

With exception to an unreleased Capitol Records acetate from 1964, and an unreleased track with Del-Fi Records as the Mincys, this disc is the third of three known singles issued by Wayne and Dwain Mincy who also recorded as the Mincy Twins for Philips and Groove Records. Recorded in October 1964 at the then new RCA Victor Recording Studios on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, the talented, David Gates arranged the Joe Reisman production. A brassy and percussive double sider, L.A.’s’Wrecking Crew’ provided the backing tracks along with background vocals by the Girlfriends. The Mincy Brothers delivered a sound similar to the Everly Brothers and the local L.A. duo, Grady and Brady (Sneed). Unfortunately, no photographs of brothers, Wayne and Dwain Mincy have surfaced and it seems that they were only in the music biz, at least in the spotlight, for no more than a year before disappearing off of the radar.

Bob Dylan – Talkin’ New York(1961)ニューヨークを語る

Jimmy Reed – Going To New York(1959/09)

Sammy Davis Jr. – New York’s My Home(1956)

In 1956 Gordon Jenkins issued on Capitol a new LP-length expanded version of his innovative 1946 suite “Manhattan Tower;” and competing record companies released their own versions of some of those Jenkins songs. This exciting Sammy Davis-Jack Pleis arrangement was not a major best-seller but did get a fair amount of radio airplay.
Chart Peaks: Billboard 59, Music Vendor 75

Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis – Ev’ry Street’s a Boulevard in Old New York
Probably the finest musical number ever featured in a Martin & Lewis film, from “Living It Up” (1954).

Frank Sinatra – Autumn In New York(1947)
orchestra conducted by Axel Stordahl
2度目の引用。

recorded in NYC December 4, 1947
Eventually issued by Columbia in the autumn of ’48, this was Frank & Axel’s lovely collaboration on the Vernon Duke standard, first recorded in December 1934 by the Richard Himber orchestra.

Woody Guthrie – New York Town(1944)

Richard Himber and his Ritz-Carlton Orchestra – Autumn In New York(1935)
vocal: Joey Nash
2度目の引用。

Victor Arden-Phil Ohman and Their Orchestra – Do The New York(1931)
vocal: Frank Luther

Red Nichols and His Five Pennies – The New Yorkers(1929)
vocal: Red McKenzie

Like the better-known song on the flip side, “I May Be Wrong (But I Think You’re Wonderful”, this tune originated in the short-lived (69 performances) 1929 revue “Murray Anderson’s Almanac.”
Long-time Broadway producer-director John Murray Anderson died in early 1954 with two of his later productions having included the successful “New Faces of 1952” and the new 1953 revue “John Murray Anderson’s Almanac.”

Nora Bayes with orchestra – Has Anybody Here Seen Kelly?(1910)

A TRIP TO GLEN ISLAND Song and Chorus, 1887
Music by Malcolm Hoffman
Played by David Pearl
Today, Glen Island is a Westchester County Park in the Long Island Sound just off the shore of New Rochelle, New York. From 1879 to 1904 it was know as Starin’s Glen Island, the brainchild of John H. Starin, shipping magnet and former member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Starin’s purpose was “to make the island the most popular picnic resort in the country — and to maintain it as a most orderly one and to banish from it all disturbing elements that are so frequently found at similar places.” Starin was soon drawing over 15,000 visitors daily who were bought to Glen Island by his steamships on the 1 1/2 hour ride from Manhattan.
