A fierce winter storm dumped between 6 to 11 inches of snow across the New York City metropolitan area.
A winter storm warning remains in effect for New York City, Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties as well as parts of New Jersey and Connecticut.
A blizzard warning is also in effect for Long Island. Both warnings are in effect until 1 p.m. Friday. That means that falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibility are likely.

２０１４年１月に、日本版ＮＳＣ（国家安全保障会議）の国家安全保障局初代局長に就任する谷内（やち）正太郎・内閣官房参与が、元ＫＣＩＡのエージェントとされる在日韓国人実業家と、きわめて近い関係にあることがわかった。
この実業家・Ｋ氏は、谷内氏が中心となって発足した勉強会「寛総会」の事務局長を務める人物。谷内氏は、自らの会社をＫ氏の関係する会社が複数入っているビルに設立。２０１３年５月にはＫ氏や申珏秀駐日韓国大使（当時）らと高麗神社を訪問、８月にはＫ氏と青森に旅行するなど、公私にわたって親交がある。
大阪でＫ氏が営んでいた不動産会社は、１９９０年代後半、住宅金融専門会社の不良債権が問題化した際、大口融資先として報じられた。Ｋ氏は韓国に太いパイプを持ち、公安関係者によれば、韓国の情報機関ＫＣＩＡ（現・国家情報院）の元エージェントで、日本国内では韓国大使館の一等書記官の指揮下にあったという。

ベテランの女性漫才コンビ、「海原さおり・しおり」の海原しおりさんが３日、脳腫瘍のため、入院先の大阪・豊中市内の病院で亡くなりました。
５８歳でした。
海原しおりさん、本名、網谷しおりさんは昭和３０年に鹿児島県で生まれました。
昭和５３年にさおりさんとコンビを結成し、翌５４年にコンビ名を「海原さおり・しおり」に改めました。
しおりさんとさおりさんは、昭和５５年にＮＨＫ上方漫才コンテストで優秀賞を受賞するなど、女性漫才コンビとしてお茶の間の人気を得たほか、ＮＨＫの「バラエティー生活笑百科」などにも出演していました。
よしもとクリエイティブ・エージェンシーによりますと、しおりさんは、おととし８月に脳腫瘍の手術を受け、その後も治療のため通院を続けていましたが２日、容体が急変し、３日朝、入院先の大阪・豊中市内の病院で亡くなりました。

海原しおりさんは海原さおりとコンビを組み、７７年に「美空ひばり特別公演」に出演。７８年、「花の１１０番 しおり・ひろこ」としてデビュー。翌年に海原お浜・小浜に弟子入りし、「海原さおり・しおり」に改名した。８０年「第１回ＡＢＣ落語漫才新人コンクール 審査員奨励賞」「第１１回ＮＨＫ上方漫才コンテスト 優秀賞」、８１年「第１６回ＯＢＣ上方漫才大賞 新人奨励賞」を受賞。
デビュー３０周年の２００９年５月には所属事務所のケーエープロダクションを退社し、１０年２月に吉本興業入り。かつてコンビでやってきた漫才やリサイタル、講演会はもちろんのこと、「漫談や歌もやりたい」と、しおりさんは新天地での再出発に意欲を燃やしていた。
しおりさんは８７年に元競艇選手の網谷茂さんと結婚し１女１男をもうけたが、０５年に離婚したことを告白。相方のさおりの夫は「大木こだま・ひびき」の大木こだま（６２）。

海原さおり・しおり – 大阪パラダイス（1979）
平成２７年を目標に、大阪・ミナミに全長８００メートルのプールを設置する「道頓堀プール」。計画の発案者は、大阪府市特別顧問の堺屋太一氏だ。３０億円かかるといわれる建設費や、技術面・衛生面、行き交う観光船や祭りの調整など課題は多い。「ほんまにできんの？」。当の大阪人たちがいまだに信じられないでいる。

大正８年５月号の雑誌「道頓堀」の「大正九十年の道頓堀」と題された随筆とイラストだ。大正９０年の道頓堀を描いたと称するＳＦみたいなドキュメンタリータッチのイラストと文章による夢物語である。
大正９０年の道頓堀には、櫓をあげた巨大な劇場があり、建物を結ぶ空中通路が錯綜する。建物もスパニッシュ風で、道頓堀に降りる階段があり、噴水から水が噴き出す。これはどうも、臭さを消すための香水噴水らしい。ロープーウエーやリフト、観覧車やウオーターシュートがあり、エレベーターで降りると川の下に地下鉄が走っている。

《道頓堀川ときたら、その時分は泥水に尿水などが混じて衛生上迚も今の人間には辛棒出来ない程度のもの（略）…何しろ道頓堀を埋めろとか鉄板で蓋をしろとか議論もあつたさうですが、結局今のやうに、川は川として残すことになつたのです》
そこで《銀と大理石で千弐百万円を投じた戎橋の中央にある水泳場の塔などは勿論その当時は夢にも見られなかつたでせう》と水泳場が登場する。
空想物語とはいえ、現在の「道頓堀プール」の発想は大正時代にあったのだ。

Free food too strong a lure for US Chinese

On December 18, “People Behaving Badly,” an investigative news program produced by San Francisco TV station KRON 4 aired a segment called “The Needy vs the Greedy,” in which reporter Stanley Roberts reported that some people were taking advantage of a local church’s charitable handouts of canned food meant for the needy.
These people stood in the queue repeatedly to get multiple portions. But they apparently were not that needy, because they threw away the food they didn’t like in nearby garbage bins and took away the rest in large bags. One witness told the reporter these people are not going to eat the food but sell it.
The video has gone viral. It was picked up by numerous websites and media outlets and generated huge interest from viewers. On YouTube, for example, it has gotten more than 1.5 million hits so far. Although the reporter didn’t mention the racial background of the “greedies,” it has become a talking point in comments: They are all Chinese.

After they get the food, they immediately opened [the bag of free food], hide the relatively more valuable food items in suitcases, directly throw away the worthless canned goods into the trash cans on the street, then go line up again to get more food that they will take to sell later. However, this food was intended for poor people who cannot afford them!

２０１４年１月２日、中国新聞社によると、米カリフォルニア州サンフランシスコ市でこのほど、教会が貧しい人々のために無料で提供する食料を、複数の中国人が転売目的で受け取っていたことが分かった。高値で売れそうな一部の食品を除き、残りは路上のごみ箱に捨てていたという。
教会は毎年ボランティアで食事を提供している。中国人らは食料を無料で受け取った後、教会そばの路上ですぐに包みを開封。高値で転売できそうなものをより分け、安い缶詰などは道路脇のごみ箱に捨てていたという。
目撃者の１人は「ある女性が食料が入った教会の紙袋を持っていた。私がそれを撮影しようとすると、すぐに懐に隠そうとした。さらに5つは袋を持っているのが見えた」と話している。現地では地元テレビ局がこの問題を報道。インターネットに動画が掲載され、批判が噴出している。
