Originally from Wisconsin where Dee Dee had won several singing contests at the age of five, her family relocated to Burbank, California in 1956. By the time she was ten years old, her father hooked her up with a manager by the name of Jesse Hodges who landed her a deal with Freedom Records under the direction of Dorsey Burnette. Recorded at Gold Star Studios in Hollywood, the A-side was the atmospheric rocker,’Billy Billy’ b/w’Give Your Love To Me’. She soon hired a different manager, Joe Laine （Frankie Laine’s brother） and a single on Hot Records transpired followed later by another on the Magnet label. At the age of eleven, Dee Dee performed on several TV shows and made appearances at the Beverly Hills Hotel as well as a one week engagement singing at the Pavilion at the Pomona Fairgrounds. At the age of fifteen, Dee Dee reconnected with Dorsey Burnette and she along with Dorsey, his brother Johnny and Jackie DeShannon would perform at the Burbank armory. In the spring of 1966 at the age of seventeen , Dee Dee would walk into Gold Star Studios for her final recording session. Dorsey Burnette not only was the producer but also composed the two songs scheduled to be issued the following month on the Era label. ‘If The World Only Knew’ b/w’To Go Our Separate Ways’ were arranged by’Wrecking Crew’ keyboard player Don Randi, engineered by Gold Star co-owner Stan Ross and fortified with the impeccable background vocals of the Blossoms. ‘If The World Only Knew’ seems to have been the intended B-side but was by far the more impressive of the two tracks. Standing out as a soulful, echo drenched dance floor track with an infectious, driving beat clocking in at a brief two minutes and twelve seconds, it is worth every single second of it. The disc unfortunately failed to chart and after graduating with Burbank High School’s class of 1966, Dee Dee would eventually marry in 1968. Today, Dee Dee Daugharty Culotta is a happily retired mother of two grown children and lives in southern California.

フロリダ沖にある、不老不死の泉があると噂される島が舞台です。大富豪のジョージ・ウェリントン（ブライアン・ドンレヴィ）が所有するその島に、10代の若者たちがバンド「ワイルド・ワンズ」や水着姿の若者たちとともに、宝探し（スカベンジャー・ハント）の名目でやってきます。
ウェリントンは娘のジュニア（ジェーン・マンスフィールド）に彼らを追い払うように命じますが、ジュニアは島に住む植物学者で恋人のアーヴィング（ジャック・E・レナード）に会えることを喜んでいました。

Born on October 8th, 1942 in Harrow, Ontario, Miss Matthews, like many talented soulful singers, began singing in church and at school. By the time she reached the age of nineteen, she went to Toronto, following her sister Joyce, who was immersed working within the local music scene providing background vocals for visiting vocal groups and soloists at the Bluenote Club. After acquiring stable employment with the Bell Telephone business office in Toronto, Shirley headed over to the Bluenote one night, was asked by the club owner to get up on stage and sing and after being quite impressed with her vocal ability, he hired her as the girl singer for the house band. While still working for the phone company, Shirley continued performing at the club and more often than not, until the wee hours of the morning along side some of the biggest acts in popular music. Recording artists such as Stevie Wonder, The Supremes, Edwin Starr, The Righteous Brothers and Jackie Wilson were some of the celebrities who would stop by to jam after their Toronto shows.
As the story goes, during one of Shirley’s performances, record producer/song writer, Bob Crewe and Canada’s Red Leaf Records owner, Stan Klees happened to be in the house and the two wasted no time in getting her signed to a recording contract.
In October of 1963, she was whisked over to New York City and recorded’Big Town Boy’ and’You Can Count On That’. The record would be issued in Canada on Tamarac and on Atlantic in the United States. The record went to the Top-10 in Canada and she won a 1964 Juno Award for Female Vocalist Of The Year. In January of 1964, a second single was recorded and issued on Tamarac and Atlantic entitled,’Wise Guys’ b/w’Private Property’. The record made some noise in Canada but went nowhere in the USA.
Her third single issued in the summer of 1964 on Tamarac and Amy was entitled,’（He Makes Me） Feel So Pretty’ b/w’is He Really Mine’ followed by her final single recorded in January of 1965 and released on Red Leaf and Amy entitled,’Stop The Clock’ and’If I Had It All To Do Again’. The latter ultimately becoming a pricey and collectible disc among Northern Soul record collectors.
By 1967, Shirley Matthews had retired from the music business, married and became Shirley Vedder. She has spent most of her adult years living with her family in Unionville, Ontario and was the executive assistant at a racquetball club there and an accomplished player herself.
Shirley Matthews passed away on January 8, 2013 in Toronto.

ここでは、１９６０～１９７０年代を振り返ってみよう。１９６４年に東京五輪が開催され、その後の高度成長によって国民の生活は急速に豊かになった。生活が洋風化し、家族が囲んだちゃぶ台はテーブルと椅子に変わった。カレーライスやハンバーグなど、家庭料理の洋風化もどんどん進んだ。
ところが、相反するように『きょうの料理』では和風の家庭料理を紹介することが多くなっていく。
１９６６年に番組がカラー化され、１９６７年の１２月には初めて純日本的な「正月料理」の特集が組まれて大ヒット。昆布巻きや煮豆、雑煮などおせち料理の基本を教える内容だった。１９７９年から現在まで『きょうの料理』の番組制作にかかわっている、現在フリーディレクターの河村明子さんはこう語る。
「高度成長期以降、核家族化が急速に進み、実母も姑も身近にいない人が増えました。昔であれば母親や姑が教えてくれたことを、誰も教えてくれない。家族においしい和食を食べさせたいけど、作り方がわからない。『きょうの料理』はそんな女性たちにとって、基本的な料理を教えてくれる母親の役割を果たすようになったんです」

うちは典型的な核家族だった。
父や母が頭の上がらない者＝祖父・祖母が同居していないと、家というものの連続性が子どもには感じられない。
これは明らかな弊害だと、この齢（とし）になってようやく気がついた。
ファストフード店などで従業員が一人ですべての業務をさばく「ワンオペ（ワンオペレーション）」になぞらえ、育児や家事を母親が一人で担い限界間近にある危機的状況を「ワンオペ育児」と呼ぶのだという。２０１６年１２月３日付朝日新聞の記事「『ワンオペ育児』私のことだ 夫不在、助けなく破綻寸前」で取り上げられた。

発達障害児は増えている。そう見る向きの中には、増加理由として、ワクチン接種やサプリメントなどの害、空気中の汚染物質の影響を指摘する人もいる。完全母乳哺育による栄養不足が原因だと言う医師もいるし、父親の高齢化との関連性が明らかだとする論文もある。玄人たちの間でも見解がバラバラだ。とても私が正解を選べる話ではない。
けれども、１９９３年度から２０１５年度の僅か２０年余りの間に、通級指導の子が７．４倍にもなったという事実は、上記のような理由からだけではとても説明しきれない気がする。そこには統計のからくりがあるはずだ。と、ずっと思っていたのだが、今回、文科省自ら〈学校現場での理解が広がり、把握が進んだ結果とみている〉という説明をしていた。ならば、腑に落ちる。

育児に手を焼いている親が自ら進んで検査や診察を受けに子供を連れてくる。「発達障害」の診断名をもらって、ほっとした表情になる親も少なくないそうだ。

「発達障害」の言葉と出くわしたのは一昨年の秋だった。
娘が発達障害だという その女性はおれより歳上なので、娘さんはおそらく３０代後半くらいだろう。
母であるそのひとも何やら大病を患ってるとかで、これから先どうなるのかとも思うのだが、
どうしようもない、どうにもならないことというのは、やはりある。
秋篠宮妃紀子さまと長男の悠仁さまらを乗せたワゴン車が中央自動車道の相模湖東出口付近で、追突事故を起こした。
天皇・皇后両陛下や皇太子ご一家の場合と違って、先導車がつかず、後方車両一台のみの護衛体制だったことも事故の原因として指摘されている。今回の件で、秋篠宮家ほか『宮家』に対する手薄な警備体制も明るみになったところがある。
こうした”皇室内格差”は、お子さま方の登校時にも見られる。皇太子ご夫妻の長女・愛子さまがおひとりで学習院へ通われる場合も、愛子さまの車の前後に1台ずつ車両がつき3台で移動。
しかし、悠仁さまの通学は２台態勢で、高円宮家の女王方は、電車と徒歩で通われていたという。そんな”格差”ができる理由を、宮内庁ＯＢで皇室ジャーナリストの山下晋司さんはこう説明する。
「天皇・皇后両陛下と皇太子ご一家という『内廷』の方と、それ以外の『宮家』の皇族では予算、職員数、警備などの面で差があります。
これは、将来の皇太子や天皇は内廷でお育ちになるという考えがあるからでしょう」
