ヤフーは４月２０日、Yahoo! JAPANが提供するサービスにおいて、パスワードを使わないログイン方法を採用した。新たに、スマートフォンなどのSMSを使って本人確認を取れるようになっている。
Yahoo! JAPAN IDを新規作成する際は、携帯電話番号を入力後、SMSで送信される確認コードを入力し、メールアドレスなどを登録すると完了になる。この方法ではパスワードが発行されないため、次回以降のログインは、携帯電話番号と都度送信される確認コードを入力して行う。

携帯電話番号を使った認証は YouTube の動画時間制限解除で一度やったことがあった。
その時も感じたが、なんとも胡散臭い。
携帯番号にはいろんな個人情報が紐付けられており、電話会社がもしそのデータを差し出せばそれだけで高額情報に化ける。
訴状によると、ボーズはユーザーの許可なくワイヤレスヘッドフォンやワイヤレススピーカー用アプリを経由してユーザーがどのような音源を聞いているのかを収集・販売しており、これはアメリカの通信傍受法および複数の州のプライバシー法を侵害しているとのこと。
訴状には「音楽・ラジオ放送・ポッドキャスト・講義など個人がどのような音源を聞いているのかわかるようになっており、これは個人の性格・行動・政治的見解・アイデンティティーに関わる多くの情報を提供することにつながる」と記されています。例えば、LGBTのポッドキャストやイスラム教徒の祈りを録音したファイルなどを再生していれば、他人には知られたくない情報がいつの間にかボーズにわたっていたことになります。
