先日、タモリ倶楽部で『地図マニアの最終形 ひとり国土地理院大集合』というの放送したそうだ。
私もそういうのは好きで、前に書いたとおり、幼少期には自分で街や道をリネームして地図を作っていた。
完全な架空都市ではなく、認識した世界を一回自分の頭のなかをとおしてから、紙の上に手書きするという虚実皮膜型だった。

この１月から、ニュージーランドの首都ウェリントンの地下４０キロのところでマグニチュード（Ｍ）７という大地震が「起き続けて」いる。
いや、群発地震ではない。たったひとつの地震が、半年もかかって、実にゆっくりと進行中なのである。
ニュージーランドは日本とよく似た地震と火山の国だ。日本と同様、太平洋プレートが東から地下に沈みこんでいる。２０１１年には大都市クライストチャーチの近くでＭ６・１の地震が起きて、日本人２８人を含む１８５人が犠牲になった。
Ｍ７とは、この国に西欧人が入植して以来、最大の地震だ。普通の地震として一挙に起きれば、大変な被害を生じる可能性がある。しかし、いま起きている地震は、地下にある巨大な地震断層が、日々、ミリの単位で動き続けている不思議な地震なのである。

ラーメンや焼きそばの具に最適なミックス野菜。既に洗った上でカットしてあるから大丈夫だと思っていたら大間違いです。きれいにしているつもりのキッチンでも実は菌だらけということもありますし、いろんな場所に触れる自分の手にだって菌は付着しています。
ラップで包まれた野菜やカット野菜もどこで菌が付着するか分かりません。ラップで包まれている野菜やカット野菜も必ず洗ってから調理しましょう。
「付けない、増やさない、やっつける」が食中毒予防の３原則です。ラップで包まれている野菜やカット野菜にも菌を付けないよう注意し、増やさないようよく洗い、万が一菌が付いてしまったときのため、しっかりと火を通してやっつけましょう。
肉や魚など生ものに気を使う方は多いですが、野菜だって肉や魚と同じくらい食中毒対策が必要です。調理の際のちょっとした手抜きによって取り返しのつかないことにならないよう、梅雨時のクッキングタイムには細心の注意をはらってくださいね。

インターネット通販サイトに今年３月、レイプを促すかのような標語を書いたＴシャツが掲載されて非難を浴びた問題で、販売元のＴシャツメーカーが先週、廃業に追い込まれた。致命的なミスから立ち上がることができなかったようだ。

問題のＴシャツに書かれていたのは、「Keep Calm and Rape a Lot（そのまま冷静にたっぷりレイプしろ）」などの文字。英政府が第２次世界大戦中、国民の士気を高めるために使った標語「Keep Calm and Carry On（そのまま冷静に進め）」のパロディーだった。
ネット通販大手「アマゾン」のサイトに掲載されていたこのＴシャツに非難が集中したため、アマゾンはただちに同社製品すべての取り扱いを中止した。
ファウラー氏は当時、「コンピューターが自動的に作ったデザインで悪意はなかった」として謝罪。顧客からの注文を受けてからＴシャツに文字を印刷しているため、問題のデザインが実際に製造された事実はないとも説明した。

最初のゴムぞうりは、1952年（昭和27年）にアメリカ人のレイ・パスティンと内外ゴムの技術者生田庄太郎によって開発された。鼻緒を指で挟んで歩くのは同じだが、日本古来の草履と異なり左右の別があるものが多い。日本で発明された履物であるが、現在では国外でも熱帯地方や夏場のファッションとして広がっている。

特に警戒が必要なのはアリゾナ、カリフォルニア両州の砂漠地帯で、カリフォルニア州コーアチェラ・バレーで５０度、デスバレーで５４度、フェニックスで４８度まで気温が上昇すると見られている。またネバダ州ラスベガスでも４６度までの気温上昇が見込まれている。

ビーチサンダルが街中で流行となったことがある。東京五輪が開催された１９６４年、石津謙介さんが提唱したアイビールックでキメ、銀座を歩き回る”みゆき族”と呼ばれた若者たちの足元は、男はコインローファーで、女はビーチサンダルだった。海辺で履くものという常識を打ち破り、街中で履くのが新鮮で格好良いとされ追従する若者が続出した。
ビーチサンダルは海外から持ち込まれたと思われているが、実は日本生まれなのだ。１９５２年にレイ・パスティンというアメリカ人が日本人の下駄（げた）や草履などの鼻緒文化からヒントを得て、神戸のゴム会社の技術者と共同で企画開発したと伝えられている。
今は世界的なシューズメーカーも模したものを商品化しているが、上等で凝り過ぎていて私は好きになれない。台（ソール）と鼻緒という単純なものがビーチサンダルだと思うからだ。

神奈川県茅ケ崎市の海岸で開かれた「スタンドアップパドルボード（ＳＵＰ）」の国際大会「マイナビ ＴＨＥ ＪＡＰＡＮ ＣＵＰ」で、主催者が配ったＴシャツを着た選手ら約３０人がかぶれなどの症状を訴えた。１人は入院中という。主催するＮＰＯ法人「日本スタンドアップパドルユニオン」が１１日、明らかにした。
ユニオンによると、ロゴマークをプリントするために用いた薬品がＴシャツに残留していたことが原因とみられるといい、県警茅ケ崎署は業務上過失傷害の疑いもあるとみて調べている。
ＳＵＰはサーフボードの上に立ち、パドルでこいで水上を進むスポーツ。ユニオンによると、初日の１０日朝、ゼッケンの代わりなどとしてＴシャツ３６３枚を選手とスタッフに配布。その後、「かゆい」といったアレルギー症状を訴える着用者が相次ぎ、使用を中止にした。大会は１１日まで。
選手兼スタッフの５０代男性は「胸と背中の（一部の）皮がむけ、水ぶくれになった。やけどのようなズキズキとした痛みだった。１０日にＴシャツを洗ったら、泡が出てビックリした」と話した。
