近畿大（大阪府東大阪市）は今月から、英文名称を「KINDAI UNIVERSITY」に改め、門の看板や教職員約５４００人の名刺を一新した。
「KINKI」は英語で「変態」の意味もある「kinky」に発音が近い。そのため、「留学先で苦笑された」などと変更を望む声が寄せられていた。
国際学部の開設に合わせて変更。でも直訳すると「近大大学」となり、ダブりでは？ 「長年の愛称なので異論はなかったようですが……」と広報担当者。

２０２０年東京五輪・パラリンピックの大会組織委員会は２５日、大会エンブレムについて、４案の候補作品の中から、市松模様をモチーフにしたＡ案「組市松紋」を選出したと発表した。
旧エンブレムの白紙撤回から約８か月を経て大会シンボルが決定した。
Ａ案は、東京都在住のデザイナー野老（ところ）朝雄さん（４６）が制作した。日本の伝統色の藍色を使い、形の異なる３種類の四角形を組み合わせた。国や文化、思想の違いを乗り越えてつながり合うことを表している。

“ダイアン”とはブライアンの当時の夫人マリリンの姉ダイアン・ローヴェル。どうやらブライアンは妹のみならず姉にも思いを寄せていたらしい。ちなみにダイアンはブライアンのアシスタントとして働き、ブライアン宅に同居していた。そのダイアンが家を出ることになり、失望したブライアンは気がつくとこのような曲を書いていた。

ワクワク感はなかった。２０２０年に開催される東京五輪・パラリンピックのエンブレム発表会に、落胆の声が上がっている。公開された最終候補作４案の中からアーティスト野老（ところ）朝雄さん（４６）がデザインしたＡ案「組市松紋」が選ばれたが、発表会直前に漏れて、セレモニーは台なしに。また、事前に「Ａ案ありきだ」と喧伝されたこともあり、エンブレム委員会の宮田亮平委員長（７０＝文化庁長官）は会見でイラ立ちを見せた。全く盛り上がらなかった発表会の舞台裏を追跡した。
発表会の冒頭、森喜朗組織委員会会長（７８）は「朝から緊張とワクワク感でいっぱいでした」とあいさつした。しかし、現場の空気は、ワクワクというより疑心暗鬼に包まれていた。
