The three Wilder brothers (Walt, Warner, George) perform a song titled after a much-quoted line of dialogue from the box office hit “Love Story.” The actual movie wording was “Love means never having to say you’re sorry,” as stated by Ali McGraw, then Ryan O’Neal.
“Love Means Never Having to Say You’re Sorry”
For an alternate POV, I LOL at this scene between Ryan and Barbra Streisand in the amusing 1972 comedy “What’s Up, Doc?”

Bobby Vinton – My Heart Belongs To Only You(1964/02/14)
orchestra and chorus conducted by Stan Applebaum
This top-10 Vinton hit had first been popularized by June Christy in 1953 and was also a minor success for Jackie Wilson in 1961.
The Duprees – You Belong To Me(1962)
Jackie Wilson – My Heart Belongs To Only You(1961/10)
シングル “The Way I Am” のB面。
Charted at #65 on Billboard Hot 100 in October 1961. One of my favorite songs; it was originally recorded by Bette McLaurin in 1952. Ella Fitzgerald and June Christy rushed out versions to compete and June’s charted at #27 on the Cash Box singles chart in February 1953. The biggest hit version was by Bobby Vinton charting at #9 Billboard Hot 100 in March 1964 (#2 Adult Contemporary).
Roy Hamilton – You Can Have Her(1961/01/03)
orchestra and chorus conducted by Sammy Loewe
This exciting production was the last major record success for the big-voiced Hamilton, who would die in 1969 at age 40.
The Moontrekkers – Melodie D’Amore(1961)
UK
Gene McDaniels – You Can Have Her(1961)
Johnny & The Jokers – Learning About Love(1961)
Pat Boone -(Welcome)New Lovers(1960)
The Everly Brothers – When Will I Be Loved(1960/05)

Johnny Restivo – Boy Crazy(1958)
Keely Smith – I Wish You Love(1956)
June Christy – My Heart Belongs To Only You(1953)
orchestra conducted by Pete Rugolo
前年のJo Stafford “You Belong To Me” に似ている。
Bobby Vinton took this ballad into the top 10 in 1964, and Jackie Wilson had minor success with it in 1961. June’s version was the best performer when the song was new.

Bette McLaurin with “The Striders” – My Heart Belongs To Only You(1952/08)
conducted by Eddie Wilcox
The ballad was initially most successful via the subsequent recording by June Christy, was a minor hit in 1961 for Jackie Wilson, and climbed into the top-10 in 1964 for Bobby Vinton

Jo Stafford – You Belong To Me(1952 her original #1 version)
Sue Thompson – You Belong To Me(1952)
Joni James – You Belong To Me(1952)
orchestra conducted by Lew Douglas
Recorded in February 1952 for the small Sharp label of Chicago, Joni’s was the first waxing of this great pop tune which later that year became a #1 hit for Jo Stafford (with successful cover versions by Patti Page and Dean Martin). After Joni was picked up by MGM Records that summer and the Stafford hit took off, this Sharp single was reissued by MGM on their own label and is the same version that has appeared over the years on CD. Followers of 1960s music are likely to recall the top-ten 1962 revival of the song by The Duprees.
Grady Martin and his Slew Foot Five – You Belong To Me(1952)
vocal: Cecil Bailey
Bennie Krueger & his Orchestra – Is I In Love? I Is(1932)
vocal: Fran Frey
recorded in NYC June 18, 1932
Leo Reisman and his Orchestra – Lovable(1932)
vocal: Dick Robertson
Busy freelance vocalist Robertson makes a rare appearance with the Reisman orchestra on both this Gus Kahn-Harry Woods tune and the also-posted flip “I’m So In Love”
Ozzie Nelson and his Orchestra – Do I Really Deserve It From You(1931)
vocal: Ozzie Nelson
deserve=値する
Early Ozzie release, found on the flipside of his “Dream A Little Dream Of Me”, was from a session actually conducted by Bob Haring. Players included Charlie Spivak (t) and possibly Jack Teagarden (tb), who was reported to have been present for only this one Nelson date but may not have played on all three takes of this title (documentation is sketchy).
