「僕は今ヘルニアと闘ってます！」と切り出した鉄拳は、「本当は８月は自主制作の為、完全にお休みをいただいてました。しかし、８月に入って、いきなり腰に激痛が！ 時間が経つにつれ、どんどん痛くなる。立つ事もできなくなり、ほぼ１０日ほど寝たきり状態になりました」と報告。

身の回りの出来事を８コマ漫画にして掲載していました。母が悪質商法にだまされそうになった話を描いたら、読者から「うちでも似たようなことがあった」と反響がありました。
それ以降、母を題材にすることが増えました。私のいびきを聞いて「ブタか？」と声をかけてきたり、ひ孫から来た手紙に解読できないような字の返事を書いたり。母にイライラしても漫画に描くことでガス抜きできたし、母がトラブルを起こしても「漫画のネタができた」と前向きに考えられるようになりました。

芸人や漫画家はネタ切れを恐れるが、それ以上に恐るべきは寝たきりで、何しろ個人の能力・資質に全面的に負うところの商売であるから、すぐに生活に影響する。
人前に立つ芸人は、病気をして窶（やつ）れると、客が引いて笑わなくなるものだ。
日本と異なり、学校を６月に卒業して９月に入学するアメリカでは、春のこの時期になると高校を卒業する生徒達は、卒業ダンスパーティーのプロムの準備に大わらわとなる。
基本的に、男子が女子にプロムへの同伴を申し込んで一緒に行くのだが、ある男子生徒の求愛方法が少し過激過ぎたと話題になっている。なんと、ニセの爆弾を体に巻き付けて女子をプロムに誘ったため、停学処分を受けてしまったというのだ!!
