仕事と家族を捨てて「女」となり、２０年間店に立ち続けたのに、今また「男に戻る」とは、どんな心持ちなのだろう。
突然、携帯電話の着信音が鳴り、電話を受け取ると、聞き覚えのある声が。「あらあ、久しぶり。会えるわよ、抱いてくれるの？」。思わず「男に戻ったんじゃないんですか」と突っ込んだが、元気そうで何より、と胸をなで下ろした。
翌日、尾山神社前で待ち合わせすると、ママこと神田ゆみさん（６８）は、見慣れたワンピース姿ではなかった。細身のパンツルックで、化粧っ気もない。
「体を壊したわけじゃないけど、もう疲れたの。美と夢を売る仕事だから、疲れてちゃだめ。本当は６５でやめたかったんだけどね」

更年期を迎えると男は男性ホルモンが、女は女性ホルモンが減少する。
つまり男と女が生理学的に歩み寄るわけだ。
残念ながら「人間」なる生物がいるわけではなく、いるのは「人間の男」と「人間の女」。枠からズレるのは全体からすればごくごく少数のマイノリティ。
昨今は世の中相当にサバケてきたと観え、テレビを見ればニューハーフタレントが跋扈している。それはそれでいいことなのだろう。
独りモンのおれなどはモーホの疑いをかけられることがたまにあるけれども、男とは握手するのもイヤで、もっぱら女オンリー、すなわち根っからのストレートである。
