新 お名前異聞 柳煤竹の巻

　大分市の高崎山自然動物園は６日、この日に誕生した今年最初の赤ちゃんザル（雌）を、公募で最多だった「シャーロット」と名付けたと発表した。英国で誕生したシャーロット王女にちなんだが、直後から電話や電子メールなどで「英国王室に失礼だ」「日本の恥」と批判が殺到。同園は同日夜に「さまざまなご意見を受け止める」とコメントを出し、命名の取り消しを含めて検討する騒ぎになっている。

デリカシーなさすぎだぁ。

例えば隣国の動物園が生まれた猿に「ヒロヒト」と名づけたら外交問題になるだろう。
それと同じだよ。
このタイミングで猿の子に、英国で生まれた王女の名を付けちゃダメに決まってるよ。今回ばかりはすぐ撤回した方がいい。

イギリス王室は、ウィリアム王子と妻のキャサリンさんの間に２日に誕生した女の子について、先ほど、シャーロット・エリザベス・ダイアナと命名したと発表しました。
「シャーロット」という名前は１９世紀前半の２人の国王の母親の名前と同じでウィリアム王子の父親のチャールズ皇太子の名前の女性形でもあります。一方、ミドルネームの「エリザベス」は現在のエリザベス女王と、また、「ダイアナ」は、１９９７年に交通事故で亡くなったウィリアム王子の母親のダイアナ元皇太子妃と同じです。

　勤務先の社長が本名の韓国名を名乗るよう強要したのは人格権の侵害などとして、静岡県の４０代の在日韓国人男性が社長を相手に、３３０万円の損害賠償を求めた訴訟の判決が２４日、静岡地裁であり、大久保正道裁判長は社長に５５万円を支払うよう命じた。
　大久保裁判長は「氏名は人格の象徴。在日韓国人に対して使用する名前を強制することは自己決定権を違法に侵害する」と指摘。男性が入社後一貫して日本名を名乗っていたことなどから、男性に韓国名を名乗る意思がないことは認識できたと判断した。
　判決によると、男性は韓国籍だが日本で生まれ育ち、日本名の通称を使用。２００１年に入社後も日本名で生活していたが、社長は１２年１１月～１３年５月、他の社員の前で「朝鮮名で名乗ったらどうだ」などと繰り返し発言した。

日本で働く場合、外国籍の人にはいろいろ制限がある。戦後自由に帰れるのに、敢えて帰らない両親にも責任の一端がありそうだ。どっちつかずで子供が可哀想だよね。

An early summer session at Hollywood’s legendary Gold Star Recording Studios gave birth to the second of only two known singles issued by unknown vocalist, Rome Singleton. His first disc, which was also recorded at Gold Star in January 1964, was a beautiful Fred Darian production entitled,’Another Show, Another Town’ b/w’Broadway Broken Heart’. On that disc, Singleton’s vocal delivery was so similar to that of Fred Darian, it was incorrectly thought to actually be the voice of the producer. Previously recorded by Wynell Sims under the title,’Joey, My Love’ and issued in August 1964 on Parade Records, this time out it is arranged with a similar sparse yet dramatic arrangement. Issued on the Dot label with a new title, Rome Singleton’s performance is very much like that of crooner, Johnny Mathis. With minimal instrumentation and distant, harmonic female background vocal provided by Jackie Ward who also backed the Wynell Sims version,’Joanie Goodbye’ came and went without notice. Today, very rarely does a copy of either of Rome Singleton’s records ever surface.

The first of only two known singles to be issued on the Johnny Cole and George Tipton owned label, Parade Records. Recorded in August 1964 at Gold Star Studios in Hollywood, George Tipton arranged the sparsely yet atmospheric production that featured the voice of an absolute unknown female vocalist. Session singer, Jackie Ward, who had a hit record credited as Robin Ward one year prior for Dot Records entitled,’Wonderful Summer’, provided the backing vocals on the Margo Spicer tune,’Joey, My Love’. Miss Ward would once again provide the backing for the tune 10 months later on a nearly identical version by Rome Singleton for Dot Records entitled,’Joanie Goodbye’. Although they were well done pop records, neither recording charted and both Wynell Sims and Rome Singleton would fade into musical obscurity.
