７０年にデビューし、「翼をください」のヒットで知られるフォークグループ「赤い鳥」で活躍。解散後の７４年、メンバーだった山本潤子さん、大川茂さんとコーラスグループ「ハイ・ファイ・セット」を結成した。「フィーリング」の大ヒットで７７年の紅白歌合戦に出場。荒井由実さん作詞・作曲の「卒業写真」「冷たい雨」などもヒットした。解散後は、音楽プロデューサーとして活動していた。

フォークのフィールドから都会的なオシャレな音楽へシフトした、当時としては意外な選択が強く印象に残っている。
ニューミュージックの何が新しかったかを説明するのは難しい。しかし明らかに従来の歌謡曲とは違っていた。
人気低落のＧＳも最後はソフト・ロック的なアプローチを試みていたが、そういうのとも やはり違っている。
ハイ・ファイ・セットのスタンスはそれでも やや歌謡曲寄り だったように思う。
