7 dead in Afghanistan crash of Orlando-based company cargo plane

WASHINGTON — The National Transportation Safety Board said Tuesday it is sending a team of investigators to Afghanistan to assist local authorities with their investigation of a U.S. cargo airline crash that killed all seven crew members on board.
The plane, a Boeing 747-400 operated by National Air Cargo, crashed Monday just after takeoff from Bagram Air Base. The crew members were all American citizens, the board said. The accident site is within the perimeter of Bagram Air Base.
The international cargo flight was destined for Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The Afghanistan Ministry of Transportation and Commercial Aviation is leading the investigation.
The Taliban quickly claimed responsibility for downing the plane, but NATO said later the claims were false, and there was no sign of insurgent activity in the area at the time of the crash.
The team will be composed of three NTSB investigators, as well as representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration and Boeing, board said.
The plane – owned by National Airlines, an Orlando, Florida-based subsidiary of National Air Cargo – was carrying vehicles and other cargo, according to National Air Cargo Vice President Shirley Kaufman. She said those killed were four pilots, two mechanics and a load master, who was responsible for making sure that the weight and balance of the cargo is appropriate.
Five of the seven people who died were from Michigan, said Kaufman. The identities of those killed haven’t been released.
National Airlines was based until recently at Michigan’s Willow Run Airport, west of Detroit in Wayne County’s Van Buren Township. It carries cargo both commercially and for the military, Kaufman said. She said the company employs about 225 people.

あくまで未確認情報だが、ボーイング７４７型機はアラブ首長国連邦へ向かうべく、バグラム空軍基地から離陸。滑走路から離陸し、すぐに墜落したとのこと。乗員７名のほか、５車両が積まれていたという情報がある。
　
・墜落の発生は２０１３年４月２９日か
この墜落により７名が死亡。動画に表示されている日時は２０１３年２月１日（もしくは１月２日）になっているが、動画の説明によると墜落の発生は２０１３年４月２９日と書かれている。『YouTube』には墜落動画が多数掲載されているが、どの動画もアップロードされたのは４月２９日以降なので、その日に墜落した可能性が高い。

　原発事故で町内全世帯が避難勧告を受けた福島県双葉町の人々の避難生活を収めたドキュメンタリー映画「原発の町を追われて～避難民・双葉町の記録」の上映会が今月、世田谷区と渋谷区で開かれている。
　製作したのは、さいたま市桜区の給食調理員堀切さとみさん（４７）。事故直後に町民がさいたまスーパーアリーナに避難した際に炊き出しを手伝い、加須市の旧騎西高校に町役場機能が移った後も通い続けた。撮影を趣味にしていた堀切さんは家庭用ビデオを手にこの間の動きを撮影し、映像を五十六分にまとめた。首都圏各地の市民団体に招かれ、二十カ所で上映してきた。

スラポン外相によれば、ミャンマー当局はこのほど、ロヒンギャ避難民をミャンマーに帰国させるべく、担当者をタイに派遣する方針を伝えてきたとのことだ。
タイ国内の施設に収容されているロヒンギャ避難民は約２０００人。国連難民高等弁務官事務所（ＵＮＨＣＲ）は、そのほとんどがミャンマーのラカイン州出身者としている。
だが、ミャンマー当局は、外国人が含まれていると疑っているようで、担当者が出身地を確認した後に帰国させる方針とのことだ。

東アフリカのソマリアで活動する国連３機関の代表らが２日、東京都内で記者会見し、現地は干ばつや内戦の影響が深刻だとして日本に継続的な支援を訴えた。
　会見したのは国連食糧農業機関（ＦＡＯ）、世界食糧計画（ＷＦＰ）、国連児童基金（ユニセフ）の代表ら。６月に横浜であるアフリカ開発会議（ＴＩＣＡＤ）を控え、日本のソマリア支援の機運を高めるために来日、日本政府とも協議した。

終わりの見えない難民キャンプで、昨日よりも今日のほうが生活が向上していると感じるときが一番やりがいを感じます。ほんの小さなことであっても難民の方々と何かに一緒に取り組み、達成できた瞬間や、彼らの前向きさに後押しされ、なんとか進んできたように思います。また、自分がこのような現場で事をさせてもらう機会を与えられたことに感謝することが大切だと考えています。

ご苦労さまです。
精神的にかなりタフでないと務まりません。私などは３日で音を上げるでしょう。
そもそも難民が出ないようにすべきでしょうが、「国連＝連合国」のボスたち（P5）がウラでクーデターを仕掛けたり武器を売ってたりするんですよね。
世界は実に複雑怪奇です。
スッキリと清々しく青空のように生きる人は、長生きしないかもしれません。

Buckingham IV – Your Lovin’ Is Really Tough（1965/07/24）

Out of Los Angeles, here’s another disc to be thrown into the’one shot obscurity’ pile. With a falsetto vocal style similar to that of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, this Imperial Records disc appears to be the only single by this unknown group. Recorded at Hollywood’s Gold Star Recording Studios in the June of 1965,’You’re Lovin’ Is Really Tough’ was the flip to a cover version of the Jody Reynolds hit,’Endless Sleep’. In an August 21st issue of Billboard magazine, the record which has no producer, arranger or group member information to be found, was predicted to hit the’Billboard Hot 100′ which never transpired.

The Lewallen Brothers – Tough He Was（1964）

The debut and only single issued by this Tuscon, Arizona based vocal group for the Mustang Records label. Formed in 1962 as the CoKats, brothers, Cal, Bobby, Tim, and Keith along with Dennis Gamble and at times, sister Gayle, and dad, Cal Sr., were known in the area for preforming tunes by the likes of the Everly Brothers, Chuck Berry, and the Ventures. Entering the studio on November 14, 1964, the group along with Gayle, recorded four demo tracks. The recordings were presented to Mustang / Del Fi Records owner, Bob Keane, who was impressed with the group. With his suggestion to change the group name from the CoKats to the Lewallen Brothers, the Cal Lewallen original tune,’Tough He Was’ was pressed as the debut single for the group. Amazingly, the recording intended as a just a simple demo was indeed quite more than that. At just under two minutes in length, the atmospheric track is awash in mesmerizing echo enveloping the on-point harmonic vocals with Gayle’s high notes blending above it all. Unfortunately, the disc came and went unnoticed. Continuing to hone their musical craft to perfection, the Lewallen Brothers were keeping busy performing as the opening act for such recording artists as the Beau Brummels, Paul Revere and the Raiders and the Turtles. Not only were they a warm-up band but also backed many top name touring vocalists at the time. There was a December 18, 1966, where six tracks were recorded. Two sessions in 1967 brought forth three more new recordings. That year, two discs were released on a local label in 1967 which had regional success. In 1968, the Lewallen Brothers won a’Battle Of The Bands’ musical competition which garnered television exposure on Dick Clark’s’Happening’68’ where they appeared three times. But, without being signed to a record label who could promote them with that added television exposure, the group was unable to capitalize on their newfound fame. In 1969, a reissue of one of the 1967 discs was pressed on the RPR label but without any fanfare to speak of nationally. That same year, drummer, Dennis Gamble left and was replaced by Mike Ramsey. They returned to Tucson where the Lewallen’s worked in the family plumbing business by day and played and sang as the house band for the Cedars Music Club. After Bobby Lewallen passed away in 1981, the group took a ten-year break and resurfaced in the early 1990’s but without Tim who chose to remain in the plumbing business instead. Several compact disc compilations with the groups recordings were issued in the 1990’s. Tim passed away in 2013 and Keith passed away in 2022.
