香港メディアによると、広州市増城では抗議者１万人以上が道路を塞ぎ、車両や店舗に火をつけました。広州軍区および広東武装警察から軍隊が動員され、１２日、国道１０７号線では少なくとも３０台の軍用トラックおよび装甲車２台が目撃されています。
１３日深夜１時過ぎ、軍隊による鎮圧が始まり、現場では銃声が鳴り響き、百人以上が死傷、数百人が拘束。
