宇宙航空研究開発機構（ＪＡＸＡ）のＸ線天文衛星「ひとみ」がトラブルに見舞われている。２月の打ち上げで衛星は所定の軌道に投入されたが、１カ月以上が経過した３月２６日、地上との通信ができなくなった。衛星は破損しているもようで、復活への道は険しいとの見方が広がっている。＜天文衛星「ひとみ」甘かった想定 責任者は1人 – 日本経済新聞 より一部引用＞

米宇宙開発ベンチャー、スペースＸの創業者イーロン・マスク氏は２７日、早ければ２０１８年にも火星に無人宇宙船を打ち上げる計画を公表した。火星への人類入植を目指す同社の長期構想の一端が初めて明らかになった。
発表はツイッター上であった。具体的な内容には触れておらず、技術面・資金面での主な疑問にも答えていない。マスク氏はここ数年、自身の最優先目標は火星に人間の居留地を作り出すことだと繰り返し述べてきた。何千人もの居住者に航空機のような乗り物で地球と行き来するサービスを提供する構想だ。この目標は、それ以外の宇宙事業や、自身が最高経営責任者（ＣＥＯ）を務める電気自動車（ＥＶ）メーカー、テスラ・モーターズの経済的成功より重要なものだと同氏は位置付けている。
