The Tree Toppers – A Field Of Yellow Daisies(1966/02)
シングル “What Have They Done To The Rain” のB面。

Out of Los Angeles, the first of two singles that this group would issue under the direction of Del-Fi records owner and producer, Bob Keane. Recorded at Hollywood’s, Gold Star Studios in December 1965,’A Field Of Yellow Daisies’ is an absolutely beautiful and harmonic vocal performance by this young group on a tune which was written by Margaret Rich, wife of singer Charlie Rich. He recorded a stunning version of the song himself a few months earlier but it was unfortunately only inserted hidden as a Smash Records LP track (Rich would later re-record the song in 1974, release it as a single and have a decent hit with it). Tom Jones recorded his wonderful version in 1967 but it too, was only relegated as an LP track. The TREE TOPPERS were led by Paul Marshall along with four other friends that while still in high school, signed with Bob Keane and recorded a handful of songs. This first single was issued in January 1966 on the short lived Del-Fi subsidiary, Scarlet Records and their second,’My Lovin’ Baby’ a few weeks later on the Del-Fi subsidiary, Mustang Records credited as the BEAUCHEMINS, sadly neither made any noise with the record buying public and the group split up.
After completing his education at the University of Santa Barbara, Paul moved back to Los Angeles and joined the group, the STRAWBERRY ALARM CLOCK in 1969. He would go on to compose, produce and record with a wealth of talent which he still does to this day.
