市長によると、現在サンフランシスコには１８９２社のテクノロジー企業があり、これは一年前の３・６％増だ。また、同市では４万５４９３件人テクノロジー系雇用が創出された。
人口８０万そこそこの都市にとって、かなりの大所帯だ。今年の第２四半期、サンフランシスコの家賃は米国のどの都市部よりも値上がりし、MPFの調査によると、平均７・８％上昇した。
TechCrunchファウンダー、Michael Arringtonは、サンフランシスコの中低所得者のために、この変化をどう操っていくつもりなのかを、リー市長に問うた。
市は１２億ドルの住宅信託基金を準備し、より手頃な住宅を提供することによって業界の成長に対応していく計画であると、市長は語った。
「われわれの仕事は、ここに住みたいと思う人を１００％受け入れることだ。適正な家賃が設定されている住宅をできるだけ多く保護しようとしている」と語った。
交通問題への取り組みとして、バイク・シェアリング［貸自転車］プログラムも検討されている。

今年（２０１３年）の秋のお彼岸はもう終わっちゃったけど、

米Googleは９月３０日（現地時間）、カリフォルニア州サンフランシスコで、宅配ボックスサービス「BufferBox」をスタートしたと発表した。前日に発表した日用雑貨の当日配送サービス「Google Shopping Express」と連係して利用することも可能だ。
BufferBoxは、Googleが昨年11月に買収したカナダの同名の企業のサービス。

日本ではマンションにポストとは別に宅配便専用のボックスを設けているところがある。ありゃどういう仕組みなんだろうかね。
日本の宅配ドライバーは受け取りのハンコを貰うまでは荷物を手渡してはならない決まりになっている。ボックスに入れてハイおしまいってわけにもいかんだろうと思うが。
