兵庫県・淡路島付近を震源とし、近畿や中国・四国地方を襲った１３日早朝の地震で現実感を増した南海トラフ巨大地震。和歌山県や高知県などでは巨大地震発生直後の津波到来や高さ３０メートルを超す津波も予想されており、行政による対応には限界もある。このため、住民主体・住民参加の取り組みが進んでいる。
本州の最南端に位置する和歌山県串本町は、内閣府の検討会の想定で高さ１メートルの津波が国内最速の２分、１０メートルの津波が４分で到達する。この日は地震発生直後に、同町では防災担当職員と全課長が役場に参集し、津波に関する情報収集にあたったが、南海トラフ地震が発生した場合、行政が避難を呼びかける前に津波が到達する恐れがある。同町では、大きな揺れを感じたらすぐに高台に避難するように日常的に町民に周知し、避難路の整備などを進めている。

Russ Morgan and his Orchestra – Tidal Wave（1935）
Before forming his own permanent orchestra in late 1935, Morgan conducted various studio sessions and was trombonist and arranger for several bands. In fact he not only co-wrote “Tidal Wave,” but also is credited with the arrangement of Fletcher Henderson’s well-known 1934 recordings of the tune. The studio personnel for this Columbia date included such names as Russ Case, Arthur Rollini, Joe Venuti and Wingy Manone. Morgan would re-record this title for Decca in 1950.

Coleman Hawkins was featured on tenor sax for this Bluebird session. Six months later it was Ben Webster soloing on Henderson’s Decca release of the same title. Russ Morgan is given probable arranging credit on the track and is sometimes shown as “Tidal Wave” co-writer （with Clyde Trask） as opposed to Will Hudson, who was credited on the Bluebird label.

社会民主党の照屋寛徳衆議院議員（６７）が、「沖縄は日本国から独立した方が良い」などとブログで発言し話題になっている。これは２０１３年５月１５日に琉球民族の琉球民族による琉球民族のための学会と位置づけた「琉球民族独立総合研究学会」が発足すること受けての発言だ。
照屋議員は１３年４月１日のブログで、沖縄は明治時代の政権から常に差別され、今なお日本国民として扱われていない現実がある、としたうえで、
「沖縄は一層日本国から独立した方が良い、と真剣に思っている。沖縄の人口は１４０万人を超えている。国際社会には人口１００万規模の独立国がたくさんある」
と書いた。１９７２年にアメリカから沖縄が日本に返還された際には、アメリカの軍事支配の不条理と苦しみから解放されると思っていたが、未だにそうはなっていないし、日本（ヤマト）に裏切られた、としている。「琉球民族独立総合研究学会」の発足には大いに期待しているし、会員になって研究に加わりたいという。

「明治時代の政権から常に差別され」
これは事実。
「今なお日本国民として扱われていない現実がある」
日本国民として扱われていることは間違いない。
基地がたくさんあるのは、中共中国という好戦的な軍事大国のフロントにあるという地政学上の理由。自民党から冷遇されているのは、日米同盟に反対してきたから。
「沖縄は日本国から独立した方が良い」
良いか悪いかは分からぬがたちまち中国に占領されることは火を見るよりも明らか。
沖縄県が中国領となれば、日・米の国益の損失は計り知れない。したがって独立運動は日米両政府によって力でねじ伏せられるだろう。
ロマンを語るのは公職を離れてからにした方がいい。日本の国益を護るべき衆院議員の立場で口にすれば「いまだ現実に対応できない左翼ボケのロートル」と冷笑されるのがオチ。
ちなみに沖縄が独立するべき歴史的経緯については、私は大いに認めるところだ。
中国人が欲望をコントロールできる理性的な人たちなら独立も「可」だろうけど、
残念ながら 百年河清を俟つ だネ。

UnicodeのWAVE DASH例示字形が、25年ぶりに修正された理由

少しパソコンに詳しい人なら、WAVE DASHと聞くと「ああ、あれ」と顔をしかめるかもしれない。文字コードにはいくつか扱いが厄介な文字が存在する。WAVE DASHはその代表格だ。
この文字には２つの問題が組み合わさって存在する。１つはシフトJISからUnicodeへの変換先が、２つありうるというマッピングの問題。具体的にはシフトJISで0x8186（JIS X 0208では1-33）をUnicodeに変換した場合、Microsoftの製品群ではU+FF5E、それ以外の多くはU+301Cと異なってしまう。しかも大半のフォントはU+FF5EとU+301Cのグリフを同一にしているので、外見からは全く判定できない。
そしてもう１つの問題を解決しようというのがN4606だ。
