オバマ米大統領は１７日、ホワイトハウスで演説し、１９６１年から国交が断絶しているキューバと、５３年ぶりに関係改善に踏み出すと表明した。ケリー国務長官が即座に国交正常化に向けた交渉に入り、数カ月以内にハバナに米大使館を再開させる。米国はキューバへの渡航や輸出制限も緩和するなど、対キューバ政策を歴史的に転換させる。
キューバ市場に期待 米経済界、制裁解除促す
オバマ氏は「米国の利益にならなかった（キューバに対する）時代遅れの政策を終わらせる」と語り、キューバに関してこの５０年以上で最も重大な政策転換であることを強調した。
キューバのラウル・カストロ国家評議会議長も同時刻に会見し、「両国には重大な立場の違いはあるが、協力できる分野を見つけていかなければならない」と語った。また両首脳は、ローマ・カトリック教会のフランシスコ法王とカナダが大きな役割を果たしたことを明らかにした。
オバマ氏とカストロ氏は１６日、１時間近く電話で会談。国交正常化の道筋や政治犯の交換などについて話し合った。カストロ氏は、市民にインターネットをより開放することや、国連、赤十字など国際機関との関係構築を進めることを説明したという。両国首脳の公式会談は半世紀ぶり。
オバマ氏はケリー氏に対し、国交正常化交渉をすぐ始めることと、キューバの「テロ支援国家」指定も見直すことを指示した。来年１月に国務次官補らの外交団がハバナを訪問し、協議を始めるという。

革命がなぜキューバ国民から支持されたかというと、米国人がキューバを属国・裏庭扱いし、特に米国企業とマフィアが搾取をしてきたからだった。
例によって例のごとくキューバでも傀儡政権の腐敗と専横が極点に達し、虐げられた国民が共産主義革命運動に清新さを感じるという、その後も繰り返されたパターンだ。
この点、歴代大統領とおなじくＪ.Ｆ.ケネディも罪を免れることは出来ない。
共産主義とはいえ、実態はカストロ独裁と党の恐怖政治。もともとキューバ人が共産主義を奉じる必然性は皆無であって、よりマシな方を支持してきたにすぎない。
つまりは米国人の思い上がりがすべての原点だったということ。

革命前のキューバを象徴する音楽家というとまず第一に挙げられるべきは『シボネー』（当初はシボネイの日本語表記）の作曲者 エルネスト・レクオーナ だろう。
“Siboney” （Canto Siboney） is a 1929 classic Cuban song by Ernesto Lecuona. The music is in cut time, originally written in C major. The lyrics were reportedly written by Lecuona while away from Cuba and is about the homesickness he is experiencing （Siboney is also a town in Cuba, and can also refer to Cuba in general）.
Siboney became a hit in 1931 when performed by the Dominican baritone Eduardo Brito. Other artists followed suit, including Caterina Valente, Xiomara Alfaro, Dizzy Gillespie, Nana Mouskouri and Percy Faith. Siboney was used by Nino Rota in the score for Fellini’s nostalgic memoir of the 1930s, “Amarcord. It was recorded by Connie Francis in 1960, and later included in the film, “2046”.
An English version of the song was performed by Bing Crosby in 1945. In 1942, Gloria Jean sang the English version in the musical Get Hep to Love.
The song inspired the Mexican-Cuban film Siboney, directed by Juan Orol and starring María Antonieta Pons. The film was released in 1938 as a part of the called Rumberas film saga of the Mexican Cinema.

また、東京郊外では逆に不動産価格破壊が起きている。徹底したコスト管理で、３０坪４ＬＤＫの新築一戸建てを２０００万円台で売る会社もある。駅から遠い物件になると１０００万円台。不動産デフレ現象だ。
一方、銀行は地価を必要以上に安く見積もっている。私の友人が麻布十番の土地購入のために融資を頼んだら、坪１０００万円以上で取引されているのに、銀行の査定は５００万円。残りは自分で用意しなければならなかった。
銀行が土地を評価しないのは、不良債権処理の過程で頭取や役員が逮捕されたトラウマがあるからだ。裁判で検察側は「返せないことを承知で貸した」と理不尽なことを言ってきた。これでは怖くて、銀行は土地を正当に評価して貸すことはできない。
だいたい、銀行は土地の査定ができる「プロ」をほとんど辞めさせた。新しい人材も育っていない。ということで、銀行が動かないと土地の価格はそれほど上がらないのだ。
バブル崩壊によってひどい目に遭った経営者の多くは、自分の子供に「土地を担保に借金するのは、やめたほうがいい。土地なんか信用するな」とアドバイスしている。一方、親の苦労を間近で見ていた後継者たちも、「土地を買おう」とは思わない。

言ってしまえば、帝国主義時代の、イギリス版八紘一宇のテーマ曲。
小保方氏は７月以降、所属していた神戸市内の研究センターで検証実験を開始。第三者の立ち会いのもとで、論文（撤回済み）と同じ手法でＳＴＡＰ細胞の作製に一人で取り組み、期限の１１月末に終了した。
実験では、万能性の目安となる遺伝子が働くと、細胞が緑色に光るように遺伝子操作したマウスを使用。白血球の一種であるリンパ球を採取し、弱酸性の溶液に浸すことで万能細胞を作れるかどうかを調べた。
しかし、複数の理研関係者によると、万能性遺伝子に特有の緑色を確認することはできず、ＳＴＡＰ細胞は作製できなかった。
