４月１日、子宮頸がんワクチン接種が「定期予防接種」となり、小学校６年生から高校１年生まで無料で受けられるようになった。しかし、期待された定期予防接種の船出は大荒れとなった。
４月８日には「全国子宮頸癌ワクチン被害者連絡会」のメンバーが厚生労働省を訪れ、ワクチン接種の中止を訴えた。連絡会の事務局長を務める東京都日野市議の池田利恵さんは、「戦後最大の薬害になりかねない」と警告する。

２度目の接種直後に手足の痺れや嘔吐に襲われ、翌日から１０日間入院した。退院後も手足の痺れや痛みが続き、学校に登校できなかった。病院を転々とするも原因がわからず、自分の名前が言えなかったり、割り算ができないといった深刻な症状が続いた。

千葉県に住む女性Ｎさん（３５才）が、夫（３５才）のまさかのエピソードをぶちまける。
小１の娘が「自分の名前の由来」という宿題を持って帰って来たの。名前をつけた夫からお風呂の中で話を聞いていたのは知っていたんだけどね。数日後、「明日、作文を発表するから聞いて」と娘が読みだしたの。
「私の名前は、お父さんの昔の大切な人の名前だそうです。とてもきれいでやさしくて女神さまみたいだったとお父さんは言いました。そんな女性になってほしいとお父さんが願いを込めてつけたそうです」

奈良地裁で行われた強姦ごうかん事件の初公判を報じた１２日付奈良新聞の朝刊社会面に、犯行当時少年だった被告（２０）の実名が掲載され、同地裁が同日、少年法に抵触するとして発行元の奈良新聞社（奈良市）に口頭で注意した。

実名は記事中のほか、見出しにもあった。同社編集部は「取材記者の判断ミス、デスク、校閲のチェック漏れが重なった。関係者に深くおわびします」とのコメントを発表。被告の弁護士は「法の趣旨を無視しており、極めて不適切な人権侵害行為」と話し、同社に抗議文を出した。
起訴状では、被告は１９歳だった昨年１～６月、奈良県内で女性５人に性的暴行を加え、うち３人にけがを負わせた、とされる。１１日に初公判があり、被告は起訴事実を認めた。

Russell Robinson, future film and television screenwriter Irving Taylor, and pianist Harry Brooks; another’novelty’ number referring to American slavery. “Mister Charlie,” is the common reference to a white slave owner.
