Originally a top-10 R&B hit for Roy Hamilton in 1954 “Hurt” achieved its greatest mainstream success with this version by big-voiced Timi Yuro. It would later be a moderate hit for Elvis in 1976 and a #1 country winner for Juice Newton in 1986.

Initially a #1 country hit for Jimmy Wakely, the tune became one-half of a double-sided top-10 pop hit for the Mills Brothers, backed with their version of “I’ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm”（also included in this collection）.

第一次大戦中に流行った歌。

『相続問題で心を痛めている億万長者がいる。
私は貧乏だけど、この世を去るとき、太陽の光を、花には春を残す、木々や老人には思い出を残す』
といった内容で、おそらく死を覚悟している兵士の心境を想像して書かれたものだろう。
とはいえ、当時としても綺麗事すぎる観はある。
軍隊嫌いのアービング・バーリンなので、自己韜晦もあったのではないか？

「虎は死して皮を留め人は死して名を残す」とかや。
今じゃ何か遺しても、砂糖にたかるアリの如くだろう。

　平成２４年度で閉校する県立会津若松看護専門学院の卒業式と閉校式は２日、会津若松市の会津若松ワシントンホテルで行われた。最後の生徒２４人が巣立ち、５９年の歴史に幕を下ろした。
　卒業式では橋本恵子学院長が卒業生一人一人に卒業証書を手渡し「伝統ある本学で学んだことに自信と誇りを持ち、医療や福祉分野で大いに活躍して」と述べた。

　サッカーの強豪校として知られる静岡市立清水商高（清水区）。今年４月に県立庵原高と統合するため、１日は「清商」としては最後の卒業式だった。しかし、襲撃予告の影響で、複数の教職員が午前７時半過ぎから正門や通用口などに立ち、さすまたを近くに置いて緊張した面持ちで警戒を行った。
　卒業式の開始時刻は午前１０時から午後２時に変更。卒業生の女子生徒（１８）は「名前が変わっても清商の思い出はなくならない。やっぱり清商の名前に憧れて入ったから、寂しいけど、悔いはないです。襲撃予告は怖かったけど、何もなく無事に終わって良かった」とほっとした表情。

かすみがうら市下稲吉の市立下稲吉小学校（今泉準一校長、児童６７６人）で１日、市ふるさと大使で歌手のオニツカサリーさんを招き、６年生１０７人が卒業ソングのレコーディングを行った。卒業ソングは、ＣＤに収録され、１９日に卒業する６年生にプレゼントされる。
卒業ソング「夢のその先へ」は卒業記念として６年の児童約２０人が、担当教諭と作った。未来への希望に胸を膨らませる明るい曲で歌詞は児童たちが考えた。昨年１１月、オニツカさんの講演会を開いたことが縁で、今回、コラボが実現した。

　東日本大震災で被害を受けた宮城県石巻市で９日、市立大川中学校の３月末閉校を前に卒業式と閉校式があり、生徒は伝統の応援歌で別れを惜しんだ。
　児童や教職員計８４人が死亡、行方不明となった大川小の進学先の大川中では生徒２人が亡くなり、１人が行方不明に。新入生も減少し、市立河北中と統合して６６年の歴史を終える。
　最後の卒業生は１４人。亡くなった生徒の名前が読み上げられると全員返事し、同級生代表が代わりに卒業証書を受け取った。

　深セン市福田区商報東路の景洲ビル住宅地の通りで２６日、地盤沈下が発生し、道路に直径５メートルの大きな穴が現れた。中国網日本語版（チャイナネット）が報じた。
　報道によれば、沈下の深さは４階建ての建物に相当し、同住宅地の警備員が穴に落ちて死亡した。
