Like their successful 1968 release of “Goin’ Out Of My Head” (in medley-form with “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”), this was the Lettermen’s treatment of another earlier Little Anthony & The Imperials hit, and the song would return once again in 1980 via Linda Ronstadt’s top-10 version.

Like Little Anthony’s previous hit “Goin’ Out Of My Head”, this was also successfully redone later in the decade by The Lettermen, and Linda Ronstadt would bring it back into the Top 10 in 1980

Bobby Sherman – It Hurts Me(1965/02)

Issuing seven singles over four different labels between 1962 and 1966,’It Hurts Me’ is the second of three discs that singer/actor Bobby Sherman released with Decca Records. Only clocking in at just under two minutes in duration, it is a lovely, restrained Roy Orbison and Phil Spector inspired ballad. While signed to the label, Bobby was seen as a regular cast member on the popular teen music television program,’Shindig!’ where he had the opportunity to perform the tune on two different occasions. Unfortunately, the record was not successful, stalling at #118 on Billboard’s’Bubbling Under’ chart. Following his run with’Shindig!’, it wouldn’t be until he snagged a role on a new television program in 1968 entitled,’Here Come The Brides’ when his fortunes would change dramatically. He became an overnight heartthrob for primarily teen girls. He signed to Metromedia Records and a string of hits and gold records followed. By the time 1975 rolled around, Bobby traded the record biz for a career as a paramedic and volunteered with the Los Angeles Police Department giving First Aid and CPR classes. In the 1990’s he became a reserve officer with the department which he held until 2017. During his time there he instructed thousands of officers in CPR and First Aid and was named LAPD’s Reserve Officer of the Year in 1999. That same year he became a reserve deputy sheriff with the San Bernardino Sheriff’s department where he continued instructing CPR and First Aid. He retired from there in 2010.
Bobby Sherman performed his last concert as a solo performer in Lincoln, Rhode Island, on August 25, 2001.
He passed away at his home in 2025 from stage IV kidney cancer.
