Steve Alaimo – Happy（1964/11）
サビのメロディが同年ヒットの Roy Orbison And The Candy Men “Oh, Pretty Woman”（1964/08） のそれに似てる気がする。
Mr. Alaimo initially began his musical career as the front vocalist of Steve Alaimo and The Red Coats, then by 1961, he had become a solo act. In 1965 when Dick Clark was forming his new musical television program,’Where The Action Is’, having had Steve and the Red coats as the tour band of his’Caravan of The Stars’ tours in years prior, he brought on Steve to be a host of the show. He also wore the hat of music director and later, co-producer until the show ended in 1967. That same year, Steve signed with Atlantic Records where he recorded and also produced groups such as Sam & Dave and Harold Melvin & the Bluenotes. In 1969, he became involved with Alston Records and part of the formation of TK Records and its various subsidiary labels, putting his performing and recording on the back burner focusing on the mechanics of running a record company. The explosion of the disco scene put the Hialeah, Florida based record company on the map with hits a’plenty by George McCrae, Gwen McCrae and KC & The Sunshine Band. The record company eventually went bankrupt in 1981.
Steve Alaimo passed away in 2024 and is survived by his wife Candy, daughter Lindsey; grandchildren Nicholas and Maximo, and his sister Diane Alaimo Hendler.

Marion Ryan perhaps gained more notoriety later in the mid 60’s as being the mother of 16 year old twin pop stars Paul and Barry Ryan. The brothers chalked up 8 hits in an 18 month period, splitting as a duo in 1967. Paul began writing and producing, and Barry singing. The song “Eloise”, fruit of their labor, was a big hit in 1968.
Sadly, Marion passed away in 1999.
