警視庁によると、女性は搬送先の病院で死亡が確認された。男は首を切っており、病院に運ばれたが、意識がないという。男は８６歳で、１９８５年に警視庁赤坂署を退職した元警視。同庁は、男が女性を切りつけたとみている。

日本は昨年１０月の韓日首脳会談で韓国の通貨スワップ拡大要求を喜んで受け入れた。それまでの悪縁は解消されたように見えた。当時の日本には円高を緩和する効果もあるため、日本が実利を狙ったという分析もあったが、欧州財政危機で動揺する為替相場の安定にも役立ったことは明らかな事実だ。
しかし、今年８月に独島（日本名・竹島）問題が浮上後、日本の政界が韓日通貨スワップの延長に難色を示し、結局増額部分の延長はできなくなり、韓国と日本の悪縁は繰り返されることになった。

米国の３０歳以下の若者の間で、「神の存在」に疑いを抱く人が急増しているという。米調査機関ピュー・リサーチ・センター（ＰＲＣ）が１３日までに発表した報告で明らかになった。インターネット上で宗教に関する意見を自由に交換できるようになったためとの見方が出ている。

それによると、特定の宗教を持たない米国人は過去５年間で２５％増加。特に若者の場合、１９９０～９０年生まれの層の３４％、８１～８９年生まれの層の３０％が無宗教だった。
無宗教の米国人推定３３００万人のうち、１３００万人は、無神論者、または神の存在は証明できないとする不可知論者を自認している。
特定の宗教を持たなくても６８％は神の存在を信じると答え、３７％が神は「スピリチュアル」な存在だが「宗教的」存在ではないと回答。５人に１人は毎日祈りをささげると回答した。
１８～２９歳の層では、特定の宗教を持たない人のうち無神論者と不可知論者がほぼ４２％を占め、キリスト教徒（１８％）やカトリック信者（１８％）よりはるかに多かった。

国際宇宙ステーションに滞在中の油井亀美也さん（４５）が、日本列島に近づく台風を高度４００キロから撮影し、短文投稿サイトのツイッターで２２日、公開した。
油井さんは、台風対策を促すために夜更かしして撮影したという。画像は２枚あり、１枚は台風の目を真上から捉えている。もう１枚は「関東が一緒に写っている」としており、台風１６号とみられる。
