A song from the Jack Buchanan film “A Man Of Mayfair” with a flip side of “I Apologize”. The band was co-led at the time by Howard Jacobs (conductor-sax player) and Carroll Gibbons (piano). When Jacobs departed in the spring of’32, Gibbons assumed full leadership, and his name was added to the record label credits the following October.

Note this label’s “Show Boat” credit, which refers to the 1929 part-talkie motion picture in which the tune was heard during the film’s finale in place of “Ol’ Man River.”
The Dixie Four was an African-American Quartet consisting of Charles Emmett, William Emmett, Herbert Benson, and Junior Dean.

For a period in the late 1920s, songwriter Marks (”All Of Me,” “Is It True What They Say About Dixie,” etc.) led a regional Michigan band, sometimes billed as his “Hotel Tuller Orchestra” (Detroit). This is one of 13 issued tracks from his two documented commercial recording sessions. Among the band members during this period were Shay Jones (brother of Isham) and Spike Knoblauch (aka Glen Gray). On the 78 flip side is the Radiolites recording of “Sweet Lorraine”.
