北ミサイル、２０の破片が広範囲に…韓国国防省
【ソウル＝中川孝之】韓国国防省は１３日午後、北朝鮮の長距離弾道ミサイルが発射から９分余りで海上に落下するまでの、詳細な追跡結果を発表した。
黄海に展開していた同国海軍のイージス艦が、レーダーで捕捉した情報だという。
それによると、午前７時３９分頃、北朝鮮西岸・東倉里（トンチャンリ）の基地から発射されたミサイルは、２分１５秒後、同基地の南方数十キロ、高度約７０キロで二つに分離した。韓国軍は「空中爆発したと推定される」としている。
ミサイルは二つに分離したまま、さらに上昇を続けたが、最高高度１５１キロに達した韓国北西部・白翎島（ペクリョンド）上空でいずれも落下し始め、最終的に約２０個の破片が、韓国の西沖合１００～１５０キロの公海上の広い範囲に散らばった。

朝鮮中央通信は１３日、北朝鮮が午前７時３８分５５秒に平安北道鉄山郡（ピョンアンブクド・チョルサングン）にある西海衛星発射場から、衛星と称して長距離弾道ミサイルを打ち上げたが失敗に終わった。現在、北朝鮮の科学者、技術者、専門家らは失敗の原因を調査している。中国国際放送局が報じた。
中国外交部の劉為民報道官は１３日、「中国は北朝鮮の打ち上げに注目し、各関係方面の反応にも注意している。われわれは各関係方面が冷静と自制を保ち、朝鮮半島とこの地域の平和と安定を損なう行為を避け、接触と対話を堅持し、朝鮮半島とこの地域の平和と安定を共同で維持していくよう希望する」と述べた。（編集担当：村山健二）

北朝鮮が人工衛星と主張する１３日の弾道ミサイル発射に関し、日本政府の発表は発射から約４０分後と大幅に遅れた。午前７時４０分ごろの発射直後に米軍から一報を得たものの、ミサイルが通常の軌道を描かず確認作業が難航したためだ。前回の２００９年は前日に「発射」を誤報する失態も演じており、政府に対する信頼を一層失わせる結果となった。藤村修官房長官は公表遅れについて検証する考えを示した。

政府と民主党は１３日、著作権者の許諾なしにインターネットのサイトから音楽や動画を違法ダウンロードする行為に罰則を科す方針を固めた。政府が今国会に提出した著作権法改正案には盛り込まれなかったが、自民、公明両党が修正を議員提案することに民主党が同意。同改正法案は修正の上、今国会で可決、成立する可能性が高まった。

The prolific early 20th Century recording quartet consisted of Henry Burr, Albert Campbell, John H. Meyer, and Frank Croxton. Thirty years after this original version, the familiar “Down Yonder” tune enjoyed a strong revival when it was recorded by honky-tonk pianist Del Wood
down yonder は南部の方言で「あそこ」「向こうの方」という意味を表す言葉。特に、具体的な場所を指さすのではなく、漠然と「あちら側」を示すニュアンスで使われる。
way down yonder は「ずっと向こうのずっと下の方」の意で、場所を指す表現。具体的には、ある場所から見て、遠く離れた場所、特に「南の方」を指す。
“Way Down Yonder in New Orleans” という曲名は「ニューオリンズのずっと南の方」という意味。

そりゃそうと、ホテルニューオータニといえば東京オリンピック開催に合わせて開業された有名な老舗ホテル。現在の調理部長（総料理長）は私と同い歳で、高校を出てすぐにニューオータニへ入社し同社一筋で修行してきた人。組織上はとりあえずこの人の「責任」ということになるのだろう。
