前原外相は８日午後（日本時間９日未明）、高速鉄道導入を計画しているフロリダ州の州都タラハシーを訪ね、リック・スコット州知事と会談、日本の新幹線の採用を働きかけた。
外相は、１９６４年の開業以来、新幹線の乗客の死傷事故がゼロであることなどを説明、「新幹線が採用されれば、ターミナル開発などノウハウをすべてフロリダに移転したい」と語った。同知事は建設費などを検討する考えを示した。

フロリダが出てくる映画は数多くあります。
物語の（全部または一部の）舞台がフロリダである場合。プレスリー映画でいうなら『夢の渚』『ブルー・マイアミ』はほぼ全部がフロリダ州内での話。『フロリダ万才』は大半がフロリダですが話の発端は雪のシカゴでした。
アクション映画では沖合いのバハマやキューバとセットで描かれることが多いようですね。
フロリダで撮影されながら実は物語ではフロリダではない場合。たとえば１９５１年の『アフリカの女王』は第一次大戦中のドイツ領東アフリカ（コンゴ）が舞台で、その撮影の多くがフロリダで行われたそうです。

以下、「マイアミ」「サーフサイド６」を含む投稿。
私はフロリダと申しますと、『真夜中のカーボーイ』（1969）ですかね。
この映画はニューヨークが舞台で、フロリダの南端、陽光かがやくマイアミに行くことを夢見ている（これも欣求浄土か？）無一文のペテン師ラッツオ（ダスティン・ホフマン）と一旗上げようとテキサスの田舎から出てきた若者ジョーの奇妙な友情（？）の物語。まぁろくでもない連中のろくでもない話です。
ヌーベルバーグにしろニューシネマにしろ、おおむね露悪的で救いのない結末なのですが、ひとつには権力の本性をそのまま暴き出すことはさすがに当時は難しかった、ということがあります。ですからヌーベルバーグやニューシネマの存在、その興行的成功がひとつのクッションとなって、そのあと、権力者の犯罪を描くハリウッド映画が作れるようになった、ということがいえるでしょう。
ああ、そういえばマイアミのすぐ北にハリウッド（Hollywood）という都市がありますね。
ルート１号（Route 1）はマイアミを過ぎてサウス・デキシー・ハイウェイ（South Dixie Highway）と名を変え、
キー・ラーゴ（Key Largo）からキー・ウエスト（Key West）までキーズ（Keys）諸島を点綴（てんてい）しているオーバーシーズ・ハイウェイ（Overseas Highway）へと続いてますから、
天気さえ好ければ気軽にキー・ウエストまで行けることになってます。
といっても相当な距離ですが。
キーラーゴを舞台にしたハンフリー・ボガート、エドワード・Ｇ・ロビンソン、ローレン・バコールのハードボイルド・サスペンスがずばりその名も『キーラーゴ（Key Largo）』（1948）。
