気象庁は、２０１２年７月３１日に「２０１１年の紫外線の状況の調査解析結果」を発表しました。
それによると、２０１１年の紫外線量は、観測地点のいずれも〃観測開始以来最大〃となった月があったといいます。
観測地点は、札幌とつくばと那覇の３地点。観測開始は１９９１年です。
このうち、札幌では、冬の期間（１～２月、１２月）に、その月として観測開始以来最大となりました。

そこで、観測開始からの「紫外線年積算値の経年変化」をみてみると……。３地点のうち、札幌とつくばの紫外線量の増加率は、それぞれ１０年あたり４・４％、４・５％。観測開始以降、紫外線が増加傾向にあることが明らかとなったんです。

東京から富士山の山頂が見える日が、１９９０年代と比べて増えているという観測記録もあります。
環境にやさしい取り組みは、誰もが推進することです。しかし、空気がきれいになって、紫外線が空気中のちりやごみに吸収・散乱されることなく、ダイレクトに私たちに届くようになっているのかもしれません。

紫外線量も限度を超えると視力障害や皮膚がんを誘発するし、終いには殺人光線と化します。
温室効果ガスは赤外線を吸収して熱を発生しますが、紫外線は透過するそうですから、人間にはどのみち都合が悪い。気温上昇と強い紫外線のＷパンチで、人類の未来もかなり危うくなってます。

There are three different stereo release versions of the song, all of them utilizing the same original master recording. The first was the five-plus minute LP track on John’s 1971 album “Poems, Prayers & Promises” which featured simple acoustic accompaniment throughout That version was also later issued as the B-side to his spring 1973 single “I’d Rather Be A Cowboy.”
As interest in the song continued to grow that year, a fuller-sounding remix was created, including the addition of string and woodwind orchestration. Toward the end of’73 that version was included in both the new “John Denver’s Greatest Hits” LP （a #1 album） and in edited form on this 45 single which debuted on the national charts in January’74 （minus the song’s second verse）.
