A nice contrast to this leisurely-paced treatment of the band’s theme song was Fletcher Henderson’s arrangement of “Sandman,” recorded one year later as a Benny Goodman instrumental and released as the B-side to his closing theme “Goodbye”.

Both he and the Chordettes had spent several years as important regulars on Arthur Godfrey’s radio and television shows but were no longer “little Godfreys” when “Mr. Sandman” was recorded. 日本人なら誰もが知る国民食というべき“あんぱん”。その考案者は「銀座木村家」の初代・木村安兵衛親子だ。以来、１３７年もの間、「木村家一族」によって引き継がれた同店は、常に日本のパン業界をリードしてきた。２０１１年度の売上高はグループ会社含めて１４０億円にもなる。今年５月にはスカイツリーのお膝元「ソラマチ」にも、あんぱんをメイン商品に据えた新業態のカフェを出店し話題にもなった。
そんな木村家でお家騒動が勃発していた。発端は今年３月末に、木村美貴子氏（３５才）が新たに銀座木村家の社長に就任したことだった。
「それまでは会長職にあった美貴子さんの父・信義さん（６７才）が会社の実権を握っていたんです。表向きは娘を抜擢したように見えますが、実は信義さんは、娘の手で木村家を追放されているんですよ。信義さんは木村家の功労者なのに、いまは収入もゼロになってしまったんです」（木村家関係者）

娘から父へ、キツ～い、アンパーンチ！
オスプレイの日本配備について自治体などから反対の声が上がっている。筆者がオスプレイの存在を知ったのは、２年ほど前にテレビ朝日の朝生に出演し、一緒に出ていた今の森本敏防衛相（当時は拓殖大教授）から、普天間に配備されるのは、普通のヘリコプターではなく、オスプレイという新機種であるとの説明を聞いた時だ。
その時、オスプレイは「未亡人製造器」といわれるほど危険性が高いということを森本氏は説明した。今や、その日本配備に関する責任者になって、国民に安全だと説明しなければいけないのだから大変だろう。

人間、長く生きていると、それまでとは正反対のことを言わなければならない局面がある。
その場合、なぜそうなのかという経緯をきちっと説明しなければならない。つまり「転向」「悔悟」「宗旨替え」に際しての「反省文」だ。
森本大臣は今のところそれをしていない。つまり論理的一貫性が破綻しているということで、永田町の住人としては凡百の部類といわざるをえない。

オスプレイ墜落
日本原子力発電は２６日、男性社員（２９）が敦賀市内の飲食店で、敦賀原発２号機の関係書類が入ったかばんを紛失したと発表した。書類には原発の安全上、問題になる情報は含まれていないという。
日本原電によると、書類はＡ４判約８０枚で、原子炉格納容器の高経年化（老朽化）評価についての資料。男性社員は２５日午後９時ごろ、同僚社員１人と飲食店に入った際、書類入りの黒色の手提げかばんを入り口近くに置いた。同僚が帰った後、精算しようと財布が入ったかばんを探したが見つからず、２６日午前１時ごろに警察に被害を届けた。

森本敏防衛相は３日、アメリカの首都・ワシントンで、沖縄・普天間基地に配備される予定の新型輸送機「ＭＶ２２オスプレイ」に試乗した。森本防衛相は試乗の後、記者団に対して「飛行が安定していて、大変快適だった」と強調した。
森本防衛相は、パネッタ国防長官と会談した後、スーツ姿のままオスプレイに乗り込んだ。国防総省から離陸し、しばらくワシントンの上空を飛行した。ワシントンは比較的、低い建物が多いが、オスプレイは建物のすぐ上を飛んでいた。この低空飛行は、オスプレイの安全性をアピールする狙いとみられる。この後、郊外の海兵隊の基地を往復し、試乗は２時間足らずで終わった。
「（オスプレイに）初めて乗ったが、普通のヘリより横ブレせず、安定して飛行できるということは説明できると思います」－森本防衛相は試乗の後、記者団に対して「飛行が安定していて、大変快適だった」と強調した。
