パナソニックの本社がある大阪府門真市。オガワ・セイヤさん（４９）は週３回、同市の職業安定所に自転車で通う。息子の大学最終年度の学費や生活費をまかなうため、職探しを続けているからだ。
オガワさんは「もうこういう状況ですから、仕事があればなんでも良い」と語る。かつて製造業で栄えた大阪市郊外の門真市で、電子回路基板を組み立てていた。職業安定所に登録してから先月で１年。「失業してから長すぎる。なにか人間性が否定されているような気になってくる」と話す。

日本中どこでもそんな感じですね。家族のいる人は大変だ。
近い将来、コンピューター制御の袖によって、工場の管理者が従業員の動きを監視・記録したり、作業効率を示すデータを得たりできるようになるかもしれない。
この袖は現在試作段階だが、ストップウォッチを手に従業員の周りをうろついて作業効率を評価する現場監督の代わりになると期待されている。

Singing legend Etta James has been hospitalised after experiencing breathing difficulties.
The legendary blues singer’s personal doctor revealed recently that the James is “terminally ill”.
According to Reuters, the 73-year-old has now been admitted to a Southern California hospital and placed on a breathing machine.
Her long-time manager Lupe De Leon commented on her condition saying: “They took her to the hospital. She was having trouble breathing, so they intubated her. She is on a breathing machine and is resting.”
Adding that: “It is really sad. She is like my sister.”

The platinum blonde’s first hit was a saucy R&B number about sex, and she was known as a hell-raiser who had tempestuous relationships with her family, her men and the music industry. Then she spent years battling a drug addiction that she admitted sapped away at her great talents.

去年１２月に入院が伝えられていたベテラン女性Ｒ＆Ｂ～ソウル～ジャズシンガーのエタ・ジェイムズが亡くなりました。
今回、８０年代以降の写真を見て、肌の白さに驚きました。あるいはマイケルと同じように「白人化」してたのかもしれません。
僕等の知ってるエタ・ジェイムズはこの顔（写真上）で、ビッグ・メイベル、ウィリー・メイ ”ビッグ・ママ” ソーントン系列の、野太い声のジャンプ・シャウター。
１９６０年代、Ｒ＆Ｂ系の女性黒人歌手がスタンダード・ジャズのアルバムを出すことがよくあって、この人もソウルとジャズ両方歌うようになり、こちらとしては興味が薄れたということがありました。
