バトルロイヤルゲーム『Fortnite』の中で登場するプレイヤーどうしの意思疎通モーション「エモート」を巡るダンス著作権問題は、自称オリジナルダンス考案者が続々と訴訟に向けて動き出す状況となっています。

なお、New York Timesなどによると、アルフォンソ・リベイロの”Carlton Dance”について3種類の著作権を登録しようとしてそのうち1つが却下されたとのこと。また2Miilyも自身の”Milly Rock”を申請したもののこれも要再検討とされたと伝えられています。

２０２４年パリ五輪組織委員会は２１日、オリンピックの新種目としてブレークダンスの採用を提案した。
ブレークダンスに加えてサーフィン、スポーツクライミング、スケートボードの４種目を提案している。
オリンピックの新種目として正式に承認するかどうかは、国際オリンピック委員会（ＩＯＣ）が２０２０年１２月までに最終決定を出す。
ＩＯＣ広報は今回の提案について、オリンピックの活性化を目指す目標に沿っているとして歓迎の意向を示した。ＩＯＣも、「オリンピックのプログラムをジェンダーバランス、若者重視、都会性に配慮したものにするというオリンピックアジェンダ２０２０の改革目標に沿っている」との声明を発表している。
ブレークダンスは２０１８年にアルゼンチンのブエノスアイレスで開かれたユースオリンピック競技大会でデビューした。しかしまだオリンピックの正式種目にはなっていない。
２０１８年の大会には若者がニックネームで出場し、ロシアのバンブルビー選手が金メダルを獲得した。

そうした「芸術競技」、元来オリンピックと相性が良いらしい。

Well, maybe it’s more like _one-half_ of the’first recording’ which debuted on Cooke’s posthumous “Shake” LP in January 1965. As the story goes: when Arthur Conley was preparing to record “Yeah Man,” it was Otis Redding who decided to re-write Cooke’s lyrics and rename the song as “Sweet Soul Music.” While it did become a major hit in 1967, only Redding & Conley were shown on the label as co-writers; but following legal action, Cooke’s name was later added to the composer credits.
