The Dukes of Hazzard is an American television series that aired on the CBS television network from 1979 to 1985. The series was inspired by the 1975 film Moonrunners, which was also created by Gy Waldron and had many identical or similar character names and concepts.

The Dukes of Hazzard follows the adventures of “The Duke Boys”, cousins Bo and Luke Duke, who live in a rural part of the fictional Hazzard County, Georgia with their attractive cousin Daisy and their wise old Uncle Jesse, as they race around in their customized 1969 Dodge Charger stock car, christened (The) General Lee, evading crooked county commissioner Boss Hogg and his inept county sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane, and always managing to get caught in the middle of the various escapades and incidents that often occur in the area.

Out of Los Angeles, from the’Lil’ Angel Productions’ bin comes this tune which is it’s first musical incarnation. Recorded at Hollywood’s Gold Star Studios in August 1964,’Wrecking Crew’ bassist arrranged the session for unknown vocalist, Larry Farrell with lovely backing vocals by the Blossoms. Although the record was issued on the microscopic L.A.P. Inc. label and never saw the light of day, the passing of time has made it quite a desired disc among collectors of 1960’s teen pop music. The backing track was used on at least 5 other versions.’Lonely Little Girl’ resurfaced in June 1965 without the strings and background vocals and issued as the flip side to the now highly sought after Dot Records single,’When You Gonna Tell Her About Me’ by Yvonne Vaughn (Donna Fargo). Three months later in September 1965, the backing track made its appearance yet again but with a new title and lyrics. Issued on the Chattahoochee label as’Sh…Listen’ by Miss Cathy Brasher, it featured a much more sonic, reverberating wallop than it’s predecessors. In April 1967 another version of’Lonely Little Girl’ appeared as the flip side to’Till Them My Love’ by Lowell Farmer on the Trident label. Also on the Trident label, Jim Page threw his version in the ring as’Lonely Little Boy’. Lastly, an obscure version by Cindy Remmes was issued on the L.A.P. label. With at least six different versions, the Cathy Brasher version on Chattahooche appears to be the one easiest to locate.
