After Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield called it splitsville with’Wall of Sound’ record producer, Phil Spector, they exploded to the top of the charts with their debut single for the M~G~M subsidiary label Verve Records,’（You’re My） SOUL AND INSPIRATION’. A tune composed by husband and wife team, Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil, it was believed to have been initially intended as the follow-up to’You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’. It sat unfinished for nearly a year until Medley contacted the songwriting duo asking if they would finish it. That they did and in December 1965 at a session at United Recording in Hollywood, the first version of the tune was cut. For an unknown reason which has even been asked of Bill Medley, the tune was re-recorded with a reworked arrangement and ultimately issued a single in February 1966. The first version of the tune was mistakenly issued on a Japanese pressing as well as a German issued disc and then again in 1968 for a’Vevre Hall of Fame’ reissue single before the error was corrected.
The version heard here is the complete and unedited version which features the long intro and outro.

The company was fortunate to have access to some of the top-notch session musicians and vocalists in Nashville. Some of those involved in the recordings included Ray Stevens, Sam Moore （later of Sam And Dave）, Sandy Posey and Bobby Russell. Dick Martin of’Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In’ fame is also rumored to have done novelty record covers for the label.
The company would eventually shutter it’s doors in 1969 after growing competition from Pickwick Records and other budget labels.
While the majority of the records issued on Hit were credited to fictitious groups and vocalists, the passing of the years has made many of the singles become surprisingly, highly desirable in recent years, with some commanding fairly high prices on the collector market.
There was also a subsidiary label called Country and Western Hits, which released cover versions of the country hits of the day.
Composed in 1965 by the Brill Building, husband and wife songwriting team, Barry Mann & Cythia Weil, this March 1966 cover version of’（You’re My） SOUL & INSPIRATION’ credited to JOHN BROOKS had achieved worldwide hit status by the Righteous Brothers on the M~G~M subsidiary label, Verve Records. The flip side is a cover of the Rascals hit,’Good Lovin’ which is credited to the SPARTAS.

政治家って、選挙になると俄然雄弁に、勇ましくなるネ。
当選したらとたんに、低くしていた腰を伸ばして不明瞭な言語に戻る。
何度やっても同じだ。
、東京新聞のコラム「核心」では「首相暴走 捨て身解散」と冷めた見出しが躍り、「野田佳彦首相が『暴走』した」と書いた。
たしかに、「首相は自ら決断することで主体性を装ったが、実態は党分裂を誘発させかねない捨て身の解散」との指摘のとおり、「身内」である民主党内からは早くも山田正彦元農相や冨岡芳忠氏、山崎誠氏らが離党届を提出。党を離れる議員はまだいそう。
そのようすからは、「首相暴走」もわからないではない。
しかし、東京新聞ではその５日前の１１月１０日には社説で「野田内閣は総辞職するか、衆院を解散して信を問うのが筋である」と書いていた。
これにはジャーナリストの江川紹子さんもツイッターで、「とても同じ新聞とは思えない」と、つぶやいている。
