Like the highly successful Dorsey cha-cha treatment of “Tea For Two” which came earlier in the year, the Tin Pan Alley standard “I Want To Be Happy” had also been introduced in the 1924 Broadway musical “No, No, Nanette.” More popular, though, was the competing 1958 version by Enoch Light
Enoch Light & The Light Brigade – I Want To Be Happy Cha Cha（1958/10）
Inspired by the currently successful’cha-cha’ treatment of “Tea For Two” by the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, veteran conductor Light arranged that Cuban rhythm for this other popular standard from the 1924 musical “No, No, Nanette.”
Glenn Miller and his Orchestra – I Want To Be Happy（1939）
This swingin’ Eddie Durham arrangement of the 1925 song hit from “No, No, Nanette” was one of the Miller band’s monumental best-sellers…but only by virtue of its 78rpm pairing with a little tune on the other side called “In The Mood.”

神戸に「しあわせの村」という比較的でかめの観光地があるのだが、神戸に引っ越してきたばかりの友人は新興宗教と思いこみ、地元民から「今度しあわせの村行きませんか」と言われてすわ宗教勧誘かと身構え、「私も小学生の時遠足で行ったきりで」と言い足されて余計混乱した、という話が面白かった。
