スマートデバイスのアップル、検索エンジンのグーグル、基本ソフトウェアのマイクロソフト。企業としての根本がまったく異なる３社は、自らの領域を支配しようと、長くて厳しい戦いに明け暮れてきた。
１９９８年当時、マイクロソフトの株価は急上昇中だった。時価総額は約２５００億ドルに達しており、ビル・ゲイツは４３歳にして世界一の大富豪になった。Windowsの年間販売本数は１億本に達し、世界のパソコンの９５％がこのＯＳで稼働していた。その前年、マイクロソフトは新たな検索エンジン「ＭＳＮ．ｃｏｍ」を発表した。この絶頂期にゲイツがライバルと目したのは、サン・マイクロシステムズやオラクル、ネットスケープなどの既存勢力ではなく、「私が恐れているのは、ガレージでまったく新しい何かを生み出そうとしている起業家だ」と明かした。

デルコンピューターのマイケル・デルに「私だったら、さっさと会社をたたむ」とけなされたアップルのスティーブ・ジョブズは、iPodという新兵器をひっさげて見事に復活を遂げた。本書には、ジョブズが気心の知れたゲイツに出資を仰いだ経緯などが記述されている。

今年は週刊朝日記事問題で「出自」ということが注目された。
健全な社会ではどこで生まれたかは本人以外あまり意味がない。他者との公私に及ぶ関係においては結局はその人のパーソナルな部分、すなわち能力・言動・性格・品格の如何が決定的要因となる。
ある地域の出身であることがある種の傾向性の元になっていたとしても、それは蓋然性の問題でしかない。例えば大阪府民には「いらち（せっかち）」が多いと云うが、そうでない者も大勢いる。
そしてまた一極集中型の日本では、都会でないと成り立たない職に就こうと思えば、遠い場所の人ほど交通費や引越し費用で余計なハンディを背負い込むことになる。加えて生活感覚の違いの克服や方言・アクセント矯正の試練も待っている。出身地域がパーソナルな問題というのはそうした部分だ。
逆に健全な社会においてことさら自らの出自を楯に、過去の差別を逆手に取った「利権」を維持しようという人たちがいる。この場合は差別が無くなったら利権も消え失せてしまうので、常に声高に「差別反対」を唱えなくてはならない。
私は５４年生きてきて、私の周囲で出自による差別（もちろん国籍が違えばどの国でも同等には扱われない）を見たことがない。つまり私が生きてきた社会の一部分はふつうに健全であったと思われる。
地方はどうだろう。あるいは健全な社会ではないのかもしれない。健全でないなら今以て「利権」に「正当性」があることになり、その地域としては恥ずべき状態ということになるが、どうだろう。
個人のみならず地域住民全体に関わることでは、むしろ地勢の面や不動産的価値の問題のほうが大きいだろう。前出の都会との距離のほかに、例えば背後に崖がある場所は崖崩れの心配が絶えないとか、海抜ゼロメートル地帯は河川の氾濫時に危険であるとか、公害企業があるとか、原発があるとか、巨大地震・津波被害が予想されているといった事どもは客観的にその地域のマイナス要素となる。そしてそれは地価に反映されるだけでなく、その地域の経済発展にも大きな影を落とすことにもなっている。
似た話に風水がある。土地の成り立ちや形状について生活の利便性の範囲で語るならまだしも、科学的根拠を示せない理由でああだこうだ云うのは人心を惑わすだけだ。私は趣味の範囲に留めるべきだろうと思う。
世界的な画家ゴーギャンのこれも有名な絵に『われらいずこより来るや、われら何なるや、われらいずこに行くや』というものがある。南原繁の講演タイトルとともに、このフレーズをパクったのはインド哲学者で童話作家でもあった篠原善太郎だったそうだが、そんなことはどうでもいい。
ゴーギャンのいうところは、すでに個々人の来し方行く末、波乱に富んだ半生、人生行路すらも超えて、人類普遍のレベルの展望であろう。このブログの読者なら私が人類とその文明の行く末を悲観していることはご承知だと思う。
ダーウィンによれば人類の出自はサルである。よくぞここまで進歩したものである。しかしやはりサルはサルであった。猿猴・エテ公にこそ相応しいラストステージを今、人類はせっせと設えつつある。

彼らはいっせいに、店内の物品を強奪したようだ。女性店員は慌てて店の外へ逃げ出し、「強盗よ！強盗！」と叫んだという。パニックに陥る女性店員、騒然とする現場――警察が駆けつけたのはその１５分後。被害は総額約１７４０元程度（約２２０００円程度）の食品類。女性はあまりの恐怖に立ち直れず、そのまま病院へと直行したらしい。

韓国人はコンビニ＝日本の会社だと思ってるようだ。
襲われたコンビニはおそらく日中合弁会社の系列であろうから、彼らの目的は半分は達せられたというべきかもしれない。

前回の記事を見た元２ちゃんねる管理人のひろゆき氏から「帰化すればいいんじゃないですかね」という発言が飛び出した。
その疑問にこたえつつ「帰化」について考えてみたい。帰化とは、ある国家に住んでいる外国人がその国籍を申請し、国家が外国人に対して新たに国籍を認めることだ。
在日コリアンで、民族名を名乗ったり公言したりしている人なら誰でも一度は「なぜ帰化しないのですか？」という質問を受けたことがあるだろう。

ハードルは高いが日本には帰化制度がある。よっぽど問題がなければ帰化は可能だ。
帰化しないで日本に住み続けたければそれもいいだろう。ただし外国人なのだから日本人と全く同じに扱われることはない。なぜなら日本は日本人（日本国籍の者）のための国だからである。
世界のどこの国でも外国人は外国人として扱われる。それ以上でもそれ以下でもない。
ちなみに私は暮らしたい国はあるが、帰化したい国はない。
