イギリス北部、北海に面したスコットランド北東部の都市アバディーンでは、２５日、強い雨と風に見舞われ、海の中のプランクトンが波にもまれて白い泡状になる「波の花」が大量に発生しました。
海岸近くの住宅では、建物１階の窓枠のすぐ下まで「波の花」が押し寄せるなど、辺り一面、雪に覆われたような光景が広がりました。
イギリスの海洋学者によりますと、これほど大量の「波の花」が発生するのは珍しく、天候に加え、プランクトンの発生時期と重なったことが要因とみられるということです。
「波の花」は壊れにくく、そのままの形でしばらく残ることから、地元メディアは「住民は大量の泡を片づけなければならず、珍しい光景を楽しんでばかりいられない」と伝えています。

プランクトンの死骸が関係するとなると、臭いとかどうなんでしょう？
芳香なら許せますが、魚の腐ったような臭いとかだったらカンベンしてほしいですね。
