But the record company want the single to sound different from the polished production on the album, so Mark Knopfler and the boys record a new version in one take with no overdubs, to mimic a live set.

Sadly this version has never been released on anything except the original 7″ vinyl single.

It appears that this disc recorded by Miss Guthrie, a Canadian vocalist signed to Chateau Records which was owned by her producer, Art Snider, is oddly only known to be issued in the United Kingdom on the Fontana label as no Chateau discs seem to have surfaced. Recorded at the legendary RCA Studio’B’ in Nashville with an ensemble of Music City’s’A-Team’, Les Pouliot was the composer of’Mirror Mirror’, the A-side which was a drum laden and string drenched pop number. He also composed the B-side,’It Doesn’t Mean a Thing’, a weepy country-pop production right in line with the style of Patsy Cline or Brenda Lee. Background vocals we performed in first class form as expected by the Anita Kerr Singers. Miss Guthrie along with Canadian songstress, Pat Hervey were both known to have recorded some wonderful girly tracks in Nashville, some of which have the involvement of producer, Chet Atkins.

http://www.fsv.jp/

http://tech.ascii.jp/elem/000/000/704/704142/

http://www.j-cast.com/2012/06/22136778.html

http://japan.zdnet.com/datacenter/analysis/35018459/

Oh, It’s a beautiful day.

Familiar title song of the 1965 Broadway musical, then-performed on-stage by John Cullum and later on-screen by Barbra Streisand in the 1970 film adaptation.

John Cullum – On A Clear Day(You Can See Forever)

produced by Kit Lambert
Pop Chart Peaks: Cash Box 8, Billboard 9, Record World 10 – UK Peak: 10
With its’hotter’ augmented mix than the commonly-reissued stereo version, this 45 was the first and only Who single to reach Billboard’s Top 10 (though some of their later releases would manage that feat on the Cash Box and Record World charts).
