流行音楽においては かたやジャズ、こなたロック。
ま、時代のお囃子みたいなもんで、これでみな浮かれていた。
現代もまた激しく動いておりますが、音楽の面では手法やテイストは出尽くして、目新しいものはありません。
他方、科学技術は２０世紀の「原子力」「遺伝子操作」「試験管ベビー」以来、”神の領域”に近づいている感じがします。
それほどまでに高度なテクノロジーを開発しながら人間は地球環境を健全に保てないどころか、致命的なまでに破壊し続けております。
これは一言でいえば欲望のコントロールができなかったからということですね。信仰や道徳、法律や刑罰などは、あまり効果がなかった。
人間は欲望ゆえにかくも高度な文明を作り上げました。しかしいかな高度な文明であっても、滅ぶときにはあっさり滅んでいきます。
原因は、自然環境の変化であったり、強欲であったり、あるいは複合的なものであったり、いろいろでしょうけど、いまだかつて滅びなかった文明・国家はなかったし、消えなかった生物の種（しゅ）もありません。
私は「種」の寿命はあると思ってます。この調子でいけば人という種が途絶えるのはあと百年くらいかもしれない。
地球が生物の楽園になるとしたらそのときではないか、そんな気がしています。
