This second musical play collaboration of Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein II （following “Oklahoma!”） was based upon Ferenc Molnar’s 1909 play “Liliom” and ran for 890 performances during its initial Majestic Theatre run on Broadway. The Decca release spent six weeks atop Billboard best-selling album chart during the summer of 1945.

竹下登元総理の「言語明瞭・意味不明」と言われる答弁の例をあげておきましょう。消費税＝大型間接税を導入しようとしたときの答弁です。
――「元来私の答弁はよくぐるぐる回りすると言われるのでございますが、いろいろぐるぐる回りをしながら到達したところは、非常に端的に皆さん方が大型間接税という言葉から来る懸念というものは、結局ぐるぐる回りしてみますとああいうものではないか。それは今言ったように、一つ一つ政策上の配慮とか税制全体の構築の仕方等によって中和できるんじゃないかということは、問答を重ねていくうちに、これも普通の人でないからかもしれぬでございますけれども、普通の人がなるほどなと、こう思っていただけるようになるんじゃないかな」（参院予算委・１９８８年０３月１２日）
思わず笑ってしまいますが、こんな意味不明な答弁をしながら、国民に痛みを押しつける消費税を導入したのです。笑いごとではありませんね。
