１９４６年のこの日、フランスのルイ・レアールが、世界で最も小さい水着としてビキニスタイルの水着を発表した。発表の4日前にアメリカが原爆実験を行ったビキニ環礁からその名前がとられた。

女性用水着が登場したのにはさまざまな説があり、古いものではポンペイで発掘された壁画にツーピースの水着のような服を付けている様子が描かれていたと言います。時代が進むと共に女性水着のスタイルも大きく変化してきたとのことで、1890年から2015年までの女性水着の移り変わりを振り返るムービーが公開されており、なかなか興味深い内容になっています。

I had no idea there was a reality show called Bikini Barbershop until today. Perhaps the inspiration for Bikini Barbers in New Jersey was this film from 1968?
A Men’s Hairdressing Salon attracts customers with Mini skirted barber-girls. MS Sue McDonald Piper and Carol Powell at work in “Samson and Delilah” hair stylists for men. I love this Movietone clip about a 1940s beauty contest. Where are all those lovely ladies now?!
The National Bathing Beauty Contest at Morecambe had Dr Joad and George Formby as the judges. The winner was June Rivers of Manchester.
KS Beauties walk into camera. Several shots of bathing beauties parading round swimming pool. Shots of judges George Formby and Professor Joad behind them can be seen Mrs Formby. Various angle shots of contestants. The winner – June Rivers of Manchester – being presented with prize by George Formby. Formby stands between first and second girl winners then his wife beckons him away. Joad says a few words about beauty, the winner standing beside him.

７月５日は「ビキニの日」。フランス人のルイ・レアールが１９４６年７月５日、露出度の高いツーピースの水着をパリで発表。「ビキニ」と命名して世の中に普及した。
のビキニという名前、実は米軍の原爆実験から生まれたことをご存じだろうか。レアールの水着が発表される４日前の７月１日、２１キロトン級の原爆「エイブル」が、太平洋のサンゴ礁「ビキニ環礁」に投下された。この原爆の破壊力になぞらえて、レアールは自身が発案した水着を「ビキニ」と命名したのだった。

禁止された地域で性風俗店を営んだとして、大阪府警は４日、大阪市中央区日本橋２丁目のリフレ店「エイティーン」店長（３５）を、風俗営業法違反（禁止地域営業）の疑いで逮捕したと発表した。同店はマッサージ店を装い、ホームページでは「世界初！ナノビキニ導入の店」をうたっていたという。
生活安全特別捜査隊によると、容疑者は９月５日、マンションの一室の同店で、２０代の男性客に対して女性従業員（１８）に性的サービスをさせた疑い。６０分約９千円の基本料金に加え、有料で、胸部分の布地が一つ数平方センチしかない極小の水着を着させるオプションをつけていたという。
大阪府内では原則、店舗型の性風俗店の営業は禁止されている。

On this day in 1958, the US performed a nuclear test at Bikini Island. Here is British Movietone’s report.
Operation Crossroads is completed with the dropping of an atomic bomb on Bikini Atoll. Tests of many kinds were put in place on ships surrounding the Atoll and special goggles issued to protect the eyes of those watching. A Superfortress took off from Kwajalein and dropped just one missile.

トレンドは、ビキニを普通に着用するのではなく、あえて逆さに着る「アップサイドダウン・ビキニ」。
