厳しい財政状況が続くスペインで、政府が進める労働改革に反対して大規模なデモとゼネストが行われ、バルセロナでは若者たちが飲食店を燃やすなどして１７０人以上が逮捕されました。
スペインでは、不景気が長引いて財政状況が厳しく、また、失業率も２３％と高い状態で、ラホイ政権は、構造改革の一環として、企業が解雇した従業員に支払わなければならない退職金の額を引き下げるといった労働改革を打ち出しました。
これに対し、主な労働組合は強く反発し、２９日、首都マドリードをはじめ全国各地で一斉に抗議デモと２４時間のゼネストを行いました。

歴史学に因果応報を持ち込むのはルール違反でしょうが、かつて中米・南米で先住民を殺しまくり その富を奪いつくしたことを考えれば、スペイン内乱以降の衰退ぶりは当然の報いであろうと言わざるを得ません。カトリックという信仰が防非止悪にまったく役立たなかった事実も重いですね。「お天道様は見ているよぉ～」と、私は言いたい。
