きょうはバレンタインデー。県内のチョコレート特設売り場では１３日、チョコを買い求める女性客らでにぎわった。
東武宇都宮百貨店では商戦に合わせ先月２９日から４階フロアに特設売り場を設けた。県内初お目見えのベルギー産チョコや宇治抹茶を使用したものなど約３０軒のブースが並ぶ。
同店によると、売れ筋は千円から２千円台の商品で、パッケージなどのデザインを重視する客も多いという。商戦も最後で、完売の商品も数多く見られた。

昭和３０年代も終り近くなると、安いチョコレートが出まわるようになった。
品質の良くないものも多く、白い粉を吹いてたり、虫が付いてたりしたものだ。
そして食いすぎると（大して食べてないはずなのだが）鼻血が出た。
歯磨きのチューブを小さくしたようなものにペースト状のチョコが入っている駄菓子（？）があって、子供心にも嘘っぽく感じ、釈然としなかったのを憶えている。

The common reissue version was actually the third recording of this song…a 1967 remix with Rob Grill singing lead, but here is the 1966 hit, a studio recording made before there was actually a touring Grass Roots band. It was purportedly first recorded with co-writer/producer P.F. Sloan as lead vocal and then second with Bill Fulton on lead, but there is a difference of opinion on which one was here on the single. デジタルポストは「バレンタインに関する実態調査」の結果を、２０１３年２月１３日までに公表した。
それによると、バレンタインに義理チョコを渡す理由として、「イベントなのでなんとなく」（３９・７％）という回答が２位、「義務感でしかたなく」（２８・７％）が３位で、ネガティブなものが全体の６８・４％を占める結果となった。１位は「感謝の気持ちを伝えるために渡している」で４５・７％だった。

チョコレートで染められ甘い香りが漂う着物や帯を、京都市の着物デザイナーが制作した。試行錯誤を重ね、４年がかりで完成させた。日伊国交樹立から１５０年を迎えたことを記念し、今月上旬に「チョコの都」とも呼ばれるイタリア・トリノで開かれた着付けショーで披露された。
作ったのは、国内外で活躍する着物デザイナー、冨田伸明さん（５３）＝京都市上京区。チョコの原料となるカカオパウダーを使い、友禅染の技法で染め上げた。近づくと、ほのかに甘い香りが漂う。
「チョコ染め」に初めて挑戦したのは２０１２年。京都市に高級チョコの店がオープンするのに合わせて企画した。この時はチョコを溶かして染めようとしたが、色も香りもうまくなじまなかった。
昨秋、日伊国交樹立１５０周年事業への協力を求められ、再挑戦した。打ち合わせでチョコ染めの着物のアイデアを披露すると、トリノ市などが全面支援を表明。同市からカカオパウダー約３キロが贈られた。

なるほど、味ではなく香りは砂糖を入れてなくても「甘い」かもしれない。
イタリアでファッションショーとは、まさに「成功の甘き香り（Sweet Smell of Success）」、、、と言いたいとこだけど、
ありゃイタリアでなくアメリカ映画だった。
