成人式の会場周辺で模造刀を所持していたとして山口県警下関署は９日、同県下関市の土木作業アルバイトの少年（１９）を銃刀法違反（模造刀剣類の携帯禁止）容疑で現行犯逮捕した。

逮捕容疑は９日午後０時３５分ごろ、同市豊前田町３「海峡メッセ下関」１階で模造刀（刃渡り約７０センチ）を所持していたとしている。この日、同所４階で成人式が開かれ、少年は式典終了後に友人と記念撮影するため模造刀を抜いたが、それを見た人が「日本刀を振り回している男がいる」と１１０番した。

「成年」に達するということについて、日本とアメリカではだいぶ意識が違うようです。
アメリカでは未成年者に対する監督責任が重いので親は常に強権を発動する。子供は制約を嫌い、早く自分の思い通りにしたいと熱望している。彼らは何事にも成熟が早く、社会にもそれを善しとする気風があります。
日本人にとっては成長は不安と背中合わせであり、イノセントであることに美意識を懐いている。成人は大人社会へ「入門」するための「通過儀礼」という位置づけです。
ここに於てもまた狩猟民族と農耕民族の違いが投影されていると思われるのですが、どうでしょう？
