大学入試センター試験初日の１５日朝に、高山市国府町宇津江の県道で起きた路線バスと乗用車の衝突事故。事故に遭った濃飛バスには、試験会場の県立斐太高校（同市三福寺町）に向かう高校生３人（男子２人、女子１人）が乗っていた。試験開始に間に合うか懸念されたが、通りかかった乗用車の男性の善意で会場まで送り届けられ、関係者は胸をなで下ろした。

１日目の地歴・公民の問題では、ユニークな出題が目を引いた。
怪獣映画「ゴジラ」が登場したのは「日本史Ａ」。「水爆大怪獣映画」などと銘打った当時の映画ポスターを掲載、１９５０年代の核兵器を巡る出来事を聞いた。「政治・経済」では、「ねじれ国会」に関する設問があった。
「現代社会」の第１問では、女性ロックバンド、「プリンセス・プリンセス」の楽曲「Diamonds」（１９８９年発売）を当時のミリオンセラーとして紹介、近年のＣＤの生産数量やネットでの音楽配信に関連して出題した。少子高齢化や核家族化、人々のつながりの希薄化など「無縁社会」を想起させるテーマも取り上げた。

大学入試センター試験は１６日、理科と数学の試験があり、２日間の日程を終えた。前日から続く大雪や強風などによる交通機関のトラブルが相次ぎ、８大学１０会場が試験の開始時間を繰り下げたほか、別の１０会場でも一部の受験生が開始に間に合わず、開始時間を遅らせて別室で受験。受験生５６００人以上に影響がでた。

「受験戦争」の言葉は別にして、そのような現象は明治の御世からありました。当然、戦前もありまして、予備校が繁盛した。
日本の教育が成功しているのか、失敗なのか。答えは簡単。
戦前においては、第二次世界大戦における大日本帝国の崩潰（ほうかい）がその答え。
戦後は日本社会の時々の現状、その有り様が、結果ですね。
日本のこれからの見通しがはなはだ暗いのは、為政者たちがロクに勉強をしてこなかった証拠ということになりますか。

学校に関する歌”学園ソング”は多々あれども、「勉強」そのものをテーマにしたものは逆に少ない。管見では、高石友也の『受験生ブルース』がそのジャンルではほぼ唯一にして最大のヒットと思われます。
